Tegan and Sara easily blur the lines between indie rock and synth pop, melding the best of both worlds seamlessly. Nothing proves this more than their slew of tracks — “Closer”, “I’m Not Your Hero” — off their forthcoming album Heartthrob. The LP has all the makings of a mainstream hit; it’s light, contagious, honest, fresh and is straight-up ear candy for the masses and indie too-cool-for-school kids alike.
What’s great is that it also shows the group’s range, especially with this track “I Was A Fool”. A far more serious, wistful and downtempo cut (with delicate piano!), it gives us a glimpse of the tender, introspective side of the sisterly duo.
