Never Age
GEMS, a rising duo based out of Washington, D.C., make silky dream-pop. If it’s your first time tuning into them, then “Never Age” is probably the best introduction to their music and a great indication of what’s to come. The track, gorgeously breathy and patient, is buoyed nicely by some groovy underlying bass and the lovely, cotton vocal work (“If only we could stay like this forever, if only we could stay like this forever…”) of Lindsay Pitts. It’s a charmer that’s wistful without being too tragic and pleasant without being too saccharine. Check it out.
