It takes a lot for a ninja to admit his own mistakes, but sometimes – you have to. One of our amazing contributors introduced us to a group that’s put out a couple stellar indietronica albums, and we have to admit it, we’re about 6 months off the mark in giving this band the props they deserve.
Faded Paper Figures was formed in 2007 at a party in Irvine California (and you thought the only good things to come out of house parties were free booze and random hook-ups). The members – John Williams, Kael Alden and Heather Alden – have come together on two full length albums, Dynamo and New Medium, both of which are worthy your undivided attention. So worthy, that we should note that the band was touted as one of the top bands from 2009 by the New York Post.
The indietronica pop trio has knack at blending electronica beats with clean accoustic guitar riffs, and a broad range of different instruments. Add in beautiful harmonies between John Williams and Heather Alden and you have something truly special. At times they have a Vampire Weekend feel crossed over with tones of the Postal Service. With well written, meaningful lyrics they’re the perfect match for your iPod, some red vines, and a good old fashioned road trip.
