Debuting an artist is something that we hold near and dear. Over the past six years, we’ve had the pleasure of breaking numerous artists that are now playing the biggest stages, dominating the radio, and becoming household names across the globe.
Today marks another debut, as we bring you a first look and listen to 20-year Nashvillian old producer Third Kind. As we’ve seen so many times before, this aspiring musician also splits his time with classes at a university. However, while a lot of college dorm room producers start their craft at that point in time, Jonathan Rankin has actually been immersed in music from a very early age, taking to a set of decks in just the 7th grade.
Remixing fellow Nashville natives, Brave Town, Third Kind has put a delicious future twist on what was originally a glowing, guitar-centric indie rock tune. Focusing heavily on the engaging original vocals, this remix effortlessly fuses together the two genres, creating an impressive, unique persona of its own. Vocal treatments aside, the fast, rolling snares, powerful, future-style synths, and atmospheric hissing, drips, and drops are definitely the heroes of this song. When they all come together, it’s hard to not get completely lost, helplessly smiling at the enveloping experience.
