We’re kicking off Dojo #155 with some nu-disco action courtesy of Plastic Plates and his funky brand of feel good vibes. After being renowned for his own remix work, it’s only fitting that Oliver Nelson’s first original track receives a similar treatment of smooth elevation we’re used to hearing him dish out himself. ‘Found Your Love’ was already one of our favorite jams of 2015, and this summer-filled flip is a timely reminder that this year still has plenty of gold to discover before it’s done. Another producer who keeps reminding us of that fact is the ever-reliable jackLNDN, his latest EP Summer Never Ends Vol. 2 a testament to the endless stream of amazing tunes we discover every week. We’ve featured two tracks of this very nature from the release, ‘Hit Refresh’ carrying his signature polished groove, while ‘Streams’ travels down a more soulful jazzy route that is a delightful deviation from his usual style.
After a bit of a hiatus, Swiss producer Insan3Lik3 has returned to explore the future bass space, combining with Creepa to concoct a melodic yet restrained sound that has us keen to hear more artistic experimentation like this. No matter the quality of tools at their disposal, there is always going to be magic made when friends collaborate, and that’s exactly what j.roosevelt and Lea Beiley have proven with their stunning mellow single ‘Subtract & Divide’. We’re all about those bedroom gems that only take a little bit of polish to really shine, and boy do those vocals glisten in the light of those glorious keys. That’s not the only partnership we want to hero from the week either, with Kidswaste and Lolaby revealing an emotion-filled EP in the works, heralded by the beautiful ‘Make U Mine’. There is purity in the feelings that went into crafting this song, and it’s a simple message to be shared with the one you hold them for.
As for the rest of this playlist, that’s our message to you. Peace out.
