Cannonball
It only took one trip through “Cannonball” before we caught ourselves in a daydream, imagining ourselves adorned with half-cocked sunglasses across the brim of our nose, slowly marching to the swagger of the emphatic bass line. Once we stepped back into reality, we, of course, realized we’re nowhere close to being as cool as Hidden Charms made us feel for those three minutes. But, it was a blast while it lasted.
If this is the first time you’re hearing the growing rumblings of London-based Hidden Charms, you’re in for one hell of a treat. With delightfully strained vocals treated with a proper amount of distortion, calculated percussion work, and screeching guitars worthy of the finest horror films, this garage rock four-piece has a sound that is quickly catching fire with rock lovers around the globe, including the likes of Zane Lowe (Beats 1), Annie Mac (Radio 1) and Huw Stephens (Radio 1).
