Diplo – Sirius/XM “Blow Your Head” October Mix

I do not know how Diplo manages his time but I want his secrets. If tweeting every second wasn’t already enough, the genius producer behind countless of both indie and mainstream singles is at it again for the “Blow Your Head” monthly mix on Sirius/XM radio. The tracklist could not be more eclectic with in the EDM world. You have Huge new bangers like Dillon Francis’s I.D.G.A.F.O.S. (I Don’t Give A Fuck Or Shit) and Nero’s ‘Crush On You’ to even unexpected obscure remixes like Butch Clancey’s The Funeral that we blogged ages ago. Diplo has time to do it all, and continues to do so time and time again. We bow down to you good sir.

[Fresh] Sleigh Bells – Tell Em (Diplo Remix)

This is the type of track that I post first and ask questions later due to my complete trust in anything dj/producer and one half of Major Lazer, Diplo. Straight out of Mad Decents Blog this is what he had to say about his latest rework of one of the most popular songs in 2010.

Derek from sleigh bellz and me have matching florida tattoos and we both are from shitty parts of broward county // & their last album was one of the sickest of ’10 .. its soo sick, its gave me a stomach ache .. half lyrnyrd skinnard half bangladesh half man half alligator.. . me and derek and alexis are bros and sis for life. in fact i like sleigh bells so much .. me and switch was in studio in nyc tryin to make tracks with derek and beyonce last week after we played her team their album .. dunno if we gonna manage to finish but was good times.

I started this mix for them like a year ago but it took derek about 6 months to send stems so it was kinda in remix limbo but i really wanted to get it out to u guys cause i think the bass and the drums sounds nice and u can play it at your next party.

Chris Brown – Look At Me Now feat. Busta Rhymes & Lil Wayne ( Produced by Diplo & Afrojack)

I’m not sure how I feel about Chris Brown rapping, so we’ll move on. I do love the beat that Diplo (Shakira, Robyn) and Afrojack cooked up for him. A deafening baseline coupled with quirky, slippery synth remind me very much of a Kardinall Offishall record. This is good.

The secret weapon of “Look At Me Know” is a ferocious verse from Busta Rhymes, who at times raps so densely that the listener gets light-headed. Lil Wayne chimes in on the track talking about God knows what. Both artists’ verses are well-suited to the track and sit in the beat perfectly.

This is a song that succeeds as an excellent track with stellar production, Chris Brown is there, but his contributions neither lift the track to glory nor spoil it. “Look at Me Now” is Chris Brown’s first single, drumming up support for his “F.A.M.E.” album, out in 2011.
