[Funky Fresh] Sam Smith, Nile Rodgers, Disclosure & Jimmy Napes – Together

Sam Smith x Nile Rodgers x Disclosure x Jimmy Napes
Together

Could there be a more appropriate title for a track that brings “Together” some of the most creative minds in music? After making a resurgence of his own earlier this year alongside Daft Punk, Nile Rodgers re-unites “Latch” collaborators Sam Smith and Disclosure for this funky new tune. Rounding out the equation is songwriter Jimmy Napes, who presumably crafted the wonderful lyrics on this groovy number for us to vibe out to. The only knock on this song is that at barely over two minutes, it’s way too short. This is apparently the product of a one day studio session between this eclectic group of artists, but let’s hope this is just a taste of what they have in store for us.

Disclosure, Eliza Doolittle, and Flume.  With those three names on one track, you already know it’s going to be nothing short of amazing. So as expected Flume absolutely nails this remix in every way, shape, and sound. He has the genre titled “Orchestral Crunk Wave”, which is completely appropriate for this amazing track. The drop is rather flawless, and definitely boots this remixes replay value to infinity. Cheers.

F For You

Yesterday was quite the busy day, chalk full of amazing releases including three tracks from U.K.’s hottest export, and last month’s talk of Coachella, brotherly duo Disclosure. We already premiered Toro Y Moi’s remix of “Me & You”, and today are thrilled to share another original tune, “F For You”. Previously the bouncy cut, featuring vocals from the youngest Lawrence: Howard, was previewed on Zane Lowe’s BBC1 Radio show, but was only heard on the web as a radio rip. Now a week out from the release of highly anticipated debut album Settle they’ve dropped the complete studio version as well. Thus far Disclosure have released a smattering of material from Settle with “Latch” ft. Sam Smith, “White Noise” ft. AlunaGeorge, “When a Fire Starts to Burn”, “You & Me” ft. Eliza Doolittle, “Grab Her!” and now what will likely be the last pre-taste before a June 3 release on PMR, “F For You”. As you can tell, we’re a little bit excited for it. Stream “F For You” above.

You & Me ft. Eliza Doolittle (Toro y Moi remix)

Oh, how fortunate it feels when a pair of your hands-down favorite artists/groups in the entire landscape of music conjoin to create a musical lovechild. Such was the case this morning when Toro Y Moi’s remix of Disclosure‘s recent single “You & Me”, featuring the lovely Miss Eliza Doolittle on the mic, came across our office desk. Coming off of critically acclaimed studio album Anything In Return, which was an admirable stab at a pure pop record from the Prince of Chillwave (I hate that tag), Mr. Bundick seems to have stayed in that vein with his latest strung-out take on “You & Me”. While it is definitely a far-cry from the garage-pop, funk infused original; toning down dance-hall friendly drums in favor of warping the track down to a breezy stride, there is still a veritable amount of danceability encased within. It seems this last year of constant live touring, mostly off of new material, has left a stamp on Toro’s production prowess and resulting sound, and it is also something that pleases the entire TMN family. Expect even more new material from both Disclosure and Toro Y Moi, as the Brothers Howard are getting ready for the release of their first full-length Settle, and Toro Y Moi’s hectic touring schedule has begun to level off as to focus more on pushing out original music from his L.A. studio. Listen to the laid-back take on “You & Me” above and be on the lookout later today when Disclosure unveils the studio version of single “F For You” on Zane Lowe’s BBC1 Radio show a little later on.

Disclosure – You Used To Hold Me [Radio Rip]

disclosure

Disclosure can do no wrong, and this Bootleg of Ralphi Rosario and Xavier Gold‘s track “You Used To Hold Me” is pure gold. Their approach to this re work is pretty much flawless, dropping all sorts of dreamy synth work to accompany the already empowering vocals. A few months ago Disclosure teased us with a video performance of this track, to watch that click here. But now we have a solid rip from Disclosure’s mix for Zane Lowe‘s show on BBC Radio 1. No news on the release date yet, cheers.

When Baauer dropped this at Coachella, it’s safe to say the 2 minute RIP went completely viral. So it’s nice that this massive remix was finally uploaded. Anytime you see to artist like Disclosure and Baauer in the same title, you can expect big things. And with the flawless vocals work done to Eliza Doolittle‘s voice, this track is sure to find it’s way into plenty of artists sets. Especially the splicing and edits around 3:15, none the less this remix has it all. Cheers.

[Acoustic] Disclosure – Latch ft. Sam Smith

If you’re like us, you’ve probably looped Disclosure‘s “Latch” track to the point of record-scratching — it’s a stellar jam and one that’s pleasantly led to the UK duo’s generous amount of press coverage as of late. But all the credit can’t go to the production; Sam Smith‘s impassioned vocals are impressive in their own right and with this acoustic version, flushed with beautiful string and piano work, we get to see just how impactive his voice really is. He’s emotional, but so commanding at the same time. Treat yourself below, and be sure to revisit the original, too.
