[Concert Preview] Global Dub Festival @ Red Rocks, Colorado

You can feel the change in the air can’t you? Summer is on the way.

Your body gets that tingling feeling, your bright colored tees and crazy pattern shorts that you have kept perfectly folded in your closet are dying to come back out. The glitter, the sequins, the glow sticks and all those fuzzy animal hats are ready to make their first appearance of the summer.
And for all of us in Colorado, it is essential to start the summer concert series out on a good note, for example, heading up to the one and only Red Rocks, one of the best concert venues in the world.

So mark your calendars Colorado and everyone else, a week from Friday, May 17th, Global Dance, Sub.Mission and Triad Dragons are throwing down the biggest bass festival to start the summer off right, the Global Dub Festival. They have stacked the artists high this year. Headlining this year is that blonde sensation Flux Pavilion and the triple X rated bass extraordinaire Excision. Getting the party started is Zomboy, Dirtyphonics Live and Designer Drugs. If you are not a fan of bass or are afraid for your eardrums, this isn’t the show for you. But for everyone else, grab your tickets and get ready to begin your summer the way every basshead should, with more bass in your face than you even know what to do with.
Let’s get this summer started!

[NEW] Flux Pavilion – Do or Die (ft. Childish Gambino)

Earlier this year, dubstep legend Flux Pavilion got the blogosphere buzzing when he previewed a collaboration with the always creative emcee and 21st century renaissance man, Childish Gambino. After months of anticipation, the full song hit the Internet this morning and most definitely does not disappoint. “Do or Die” begins with an upbeat, building instrumental accompanied by some solid bars from Gambino before exploding into the trademarked epic, heavy bass of Flux. Although hip-hop and dubstep have long been intertwined, this joint effort may be one of the strongest of its kind to date.

This one is perfect for your casual Wednesday rage, and comes just in time for the holiday season. Turn this up, sip on some eggnog and get ratchet with Flux and Childish this Christmas, Hanukkah , Eid, Kwanza and New Years!

[MP3 Playlist] The Trap Dojo 13

Another week, another Trap Dojo, filled with the very best Trap music the internet has to offer. Sorry this post isn’t on the usual Tuesday, but it has more than enough banging tunes to make up for it. The first track, a huge remix of the Flux Pavillion and Major Lazer track “Jah No Partial” goes hard, infusing the classic roots reggae vocals over all sorts of wild instrumentals, horns, whistles and drums. The Dojo just wouldn’t quite feel right if there wasn’t a track by Ookay near the top of the list and he certainly doesn’t disappoint this week, I dare you not to lose your mind when the whistles drop into the track after the hardstyle breakdown halfway through the track. I have no idea who Kennedy Jones is other than he posted this first song to his Soundcloud last and it is a track that would be sure to pack a dance floor. It seems that we cant go a single week without throwing in a remix of “Clique,” and this week Bird Peterson does the honors. Butch Clancy, or should I say “BU†CH CLΔNCΨ” takes a break from making killer dubstep to make this hard hitting trap mash-up. This isn’t available for free download, but will be as soon as Clancy gets all the kinks worked out. I have loved every single OG mix that Candyland has released, and this mix of J-Kwon‘s “Tipsy” proves that they are one of the best at updating familiar but tired tracks into hyped up bangers. The next several songs all go hard with huge instrumentals and fire-spitting lyrics. The last few songs are a little bit different, M!NT creates a beautiful Lovetrap sound with hip-hop vocals throughout while Kastle is pure Lovetrap, with amazing layered vocals sure to get your head nodding while your heart’s breaking. Lastly, we have something the likes of which I’m sure you’ve never heard before, as 710 Records boss ṪHE ƦξVЁR∑NƉ BLEEⱣ BLOO₱ traps out the Etta James classic “At Last”. Be sure to listen to all of these songs on the best system or headphones you have to catch all the sub-bass and subtle features which make these songs truly magnificent.

Flux Pavilion – Daydreamer feat. Example (Jack Beats Remix)

TMN: Going back to previous releases, we still consider your “Get Down” as one of the most amazing uplifting bangers to date. Any plans to produce more aggressive tracks in the future?

PO: There’s definitely a couple on the album. We have the concept down for the second album, and we think it’s going to be quite hardcore.

PO: Yeah, we just did a remix for Flux Pavilion, and it’s pretty much as banging as we’ve ever gone.

A few weeks back we got the chance to sit down with the down to earth duo, Jack Beats. We remember distinctively how our heart rate spiked of the a possible remix for Flux Pavilion. Long anxious days had to pass to get to this very moment but finally, Jack Beats, alongside Dillon Francis and Danny Byrd have released their very own remix full of their signature style of pure bass play. You can get the Daydreamer (Remixes) EP here

[Remixes] Nero – It Must Be The Feeling + Flux Pavilion and Nero + Brookes Brothers + MORE Remix

UK dubstep giant Nero has had a successful string of singles over the past few years due to his quality vocal samples and heavy wobbling bass lines. Although his tracks are good on their own they often take an innovative remixer to elevate them to greatness. Examples of this include Skrillex’s massive remix of “Promises” as well as Knife Party’s infectious and slightly maddening remix of “Crush on You”. We’ll let you be the judge of whether this trend continues with his latest single “Must Be The Feeling”. Although the smooth disco vibe of the original track stands on its own, some of our more hard core listeners out there might enjoy this drumstep remix by fellow brits the Brookes Brothers.
