This week’s a busy one for UK native James Blake. His Big Boi-sampling “Everyday I Ran” surfaced just yesterday, and now he’s back with another track for your listening enjoyment titled “Take a Fall for Me”. The producer/ singer has always experimented with new synths and sounds so it is no surprise that he collaborates with legendary emcee RZA for this new single. The haunting vocals and airy production make for a nice background to the spoken work poetry by the the Wu-Tang lyricist. It is not known yet whether this will be on any upcoming effort but take a listen to the smooth track below.
[NEW] James Blake – Everyday I Ran (Bonus Track)
James Blake continues to show us his versatility, this time with “Everyday I Ran”, a bonus track off his forthcoming sophomore album, Overgrown (April 9th, Atlas/Republic). Buzzy, yet still downtempo and ambient, you might assume it’s just another typical low-key Blake charmer, until of course you notice the random, but well-used samples of Big Boi‘s “Royal Flush”. Check it out via this Tumblr page. Also, be sure to listen to the other previously released LP tracks: “Digital Lion”, “Retrograde”, and “Voyeur”.
[NEW] James Blake – Digital Lion
Back again with yet another new track this week is the British singer/producer James Blake. His newest single off his upcoming 1-800 Dinosaurs‘ Overgrown album is an airy and spacey tune that is almost multiple songs in one. Beginning with an atmospheric beat and reverberating vocals, Blake switches up the beat about a minute in to a melodic vibe and switching again by adding some heavier drum rips. Keeping the same echoing and haunting vocals that is signature to Blake’s style, this is a floating track that is quite the chill listen.
James Blake – Voyeur (Dub)
Voyeur (Dub)
James Blake is set to release his new album Overgrown, in a month time, to which we have seen the a preview of the first single Retrograde back in February. Now the British electronic producer is giving us another look at what we can expect with the dub version of ‘Voyeur’.
A simplistic approach to a much deeper production, the track mashes together dance principles with more chaotic layers of noise, all of course with a palpable bassline.
This is a radio rip of BBC Radio 1 Show with Benji B.
James Blake – Retrograde (Minorstep remix)
Following the release of the emotionally crushing downtempo new single from James Blake, comes an equally as relaxing bootleg remix by producer Minorstep all the way from Athens, Greece. Using most of the originals structure, this remix provides another alternative to consume James Blake in a similar fashion to how it was first intended, consumed in a somber atmosphere of opaque melodies.
[NEW] James Blake – Retrograde
Here it is, ladies and gents: James Blake‘s new song “Retrograde”. The downtempo, yet still buzzy electronic track is absolutely beautiful, emotionally crushing and sexy in that, well, James Blake way. We’ve been waiting for this to surface and now that it’s here, we’ll be spending a lot of time with it. The song was premiered about an hour ago by Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1; it’s off his forthcoming album, Overgrown, due out April 8th. Check it out below!
