[NEW] Jamie xx – Girl

Jamie xx
Girl

James Blake previewed this glorious track titled “Girl” by Jamie xx on his BBC Radio 1 Residency show last month. He made a mistake and called it “Bloke” by Simon Tallwhacker, but James corrects himself during Aprils mix (featured below). We took the rip from the previous mix because he talks all over the most recent one, but none the less this track should give you the chills. Featuring his classic style of dreamy vocal edits mixed with flawless drum work, this one should be on repeat for a while. Cheers.

[Chill/Indie/Electronic] Jamie xx – Sleep Sound

Jamie xx
Sleep Sound

Jamie xx, producer and one-third of British breakout band The xx, has streamed his first new single in over three years.

While The xx are currently in the middle of an intimate New York residency, Jamie xx found the time to release his slumberous new production “Sleep Sound.” The track will be featured as part of a 12”, double A-side single G.I.R.L./Sleep Sound.

On “Sleep Sound,” Jamie xx continues to use his production power of taking minimal, softened beats and turning them into massive, room-filling creations. A dreamy, slumber-inducing track, “Sleep Sound” is an accurately named electronic lullaby filled with chilled-out synthscapes and oscillating beats.

G.I.R.L./Sleep Sound is out May 5 via Young Turks.

Even though Jamie xx already produced The xx‘s “Sunset,” here he is giving it the remix treatment, essentially remixing himself. It’s a pretty subdued version, until the last minute or so. For all the ninjas based outside of the US, you are in luck! The track is available for free download, along with videos for “Chained” and “Angels,” as part of iTunes’ 12 Days of Christmas promotional giveaway. Check out the details here. For all of us state-side folks, the stream below will have to do, enjoy!

The xx – Reconsider (Jamie xx Remix)

Yesterday, we posted Jamie xx’s new 55-minute Boiler Room set in its entirety. You might’ve recognized the first few minutes of it as being a remix of The xx’s “Reconsider”. Just in case you couldn’t get enough of that one track on its own — it’s pretty damn good in that hot/haunting way, we don’t blame you — here it is for you to repeat and loop, repeat and loop. Enjoy.

Alicia Keys – When It’s All Over (Prod. Jamie xx)

R&B powerhouse Alicia Keys releases her fifth studio album, Girl On Fire, this week. Now, I know seeing her name on The Music Ninja might be a little puzzling, but we couldn’t help noticing the impressive array of artists that she collaborated with on this new LP. One in particular really caught our eye: The xx member and production guru Jamie xx. He lends his expertise on Keys’ track “When It’s All Over,” providing a subtle, but lovely backdrop of snappy and swirling electronica. She brings the vocal chops, he brings the atmospherics. Check it out below.

Four Tet – Lion (Jamie xx Remix)

Jamie xx, the man behind The xx‘s genius production, takes on Four Tet‘s “Lion”. I can’t really think of a better way to soundtrack this ominous morning in New York City (Hurricane Sandy’s sure packing a lot of howling winds, man) than with this dark, ambient and throbbing remix.
