[R&B] Beyoncé – Drunken Love (Feat. Jay Z) (Official Remix) (Prod. Detail)

Beyoncé f/ Jay Z
Drunken Love (Official Remix) (Prod. by Detail)

Given the nature with which Beyoncé‘s last album was released, it’s no surprise that time constraints were tight. Despite the song’s resounding success on the charts, Noel “Detail” Fisher, who produced the track, recently lamented about not being able to take it into post-production and tweak it just a little bit more. Finally gaining an opportunity to share his vision with the world, he’s decided to release a remix of epic proportions just in time for Valentine’s Day. Cleverly titled “Drunken Love,” Detail’s version ups the ante a bit, wiping out many of the elements of the original and replacing them with added orchestration, extended vocals, and thundering drums. Check out the retooled interpretation above, and let us know which rendition is your favorite. You can also catch Noel’s personal feelings about the single in the accompanying video below.

Watch Performances From Last Night’s 56th Annual Grammy Awards

Let’s face it: the Grammy’s blow. They’re a total misrepresentation of the actual trends happening in music, and are usually at least two to three steps behind the curve. The Recording Academy is out of touch with the culture, and while the awards still have some meaning to them, the show lacks the same significance it had in previous generations. With that mini rant out of the way, I would like to congratulate all of last night’s winners, and don’t want to take anything away from the artists themselves or any of their accomplishments. What we are here to do today is highlight one of the positive aspects of the show: the performances. From 33 couples getting married during Macklemore & Ryan Lewis‘ rendition of “Same Love,” Kendrick Lamar‘s frenetic display during an insane mashup of “M.A.A.D. City” and “Radioactive” with Imagine Dragons, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr re-uniting as one half of The Beatles, and finally to Jay-Z and Beyoncé giving us a glimpse into their chemistry together on stage, this year’s awards had plenty to offer in terms of entertainment value. Check out some of the best ones below, and let us know your thoughts on which one was your favorite.

Daft Punk, Pharrell, Nile Rodgers & Stevie Wonder

[Hip-Hop] Rick Ross – The Devil Is A Lie (Feat. Jay Z)

Rick Ross
The Devil Is A Lie (Feat. Jay Z)

Despite whatever your feelings may be about Rick Ross and his MMG collective, you have to admit that he knows how to craft a hit, even if his recent efforts have fallen a bit short. Whenever Rozay and Hov team up though, we’re almost guaranteed a certified banger, and that’s exactly what we have with “The Devil Is A Lie.” This soulful trap joint features both emcees at their finest, with Ross deploying his verses with his usual swagger, and Jay Z adopting a flow that sounds eerily similar to Drake a la “Worst Behavior.”  The real winner here though is that instrumental from K.E. On The Track, and you can learn more about the process that went behind the track from the producer himself below.

[NEW] Beyoncé – Beyoncé: The Visual Album

’Beyoncé
Drunk In Love (feat. Jay Z)’
’Beyoncé
Superpower (feat. Frank Ocean)’
’Beyoncé
Mine (feat. Drake)’

The Holiday season is upon us, and in the spirit of giving Beyoncé has decided to drop a brand new album seemingly out of thin air. Titled Beyoncé: The Visual Album, the rather ambitious project features 14 tracks and 18 unique music videos. It’s difficult to determine what’s more remarkable here: the fact that Beyoncé can drop an album with virtually no promotion at all, or that she painstakingly took the time to shoot 18 individual music videos for all of these tracks without any details leaking out. This will certainly be an interesting experiment to keep our eyes on for sure, and we’d like to see what numbers Bey can pull off with her latest studio effort.

We’ve included some of our favorites here, but make sure to purchase the album on iTunes, which includes features from her husband Jay-Z, her daughter Blue Ivy, Drake and Frank Ocean. You can also catch previews for all her videos on YouTube.

[NEW] Timbaland – Know Bout Me (Feat. Jay-Z, Drake & James Fauntleroy)

Timbaland
Know About Me (Feat. Jay-Z, Drake & James Fauntleroy)

After alluding to this track awhile back, mega-producer Timbaland drops a brand new single featuring Drake and Jay-Z. The single, titled “Know Bout Me,” is a monster collaboration and very reminiscent of classic Timbo from the 90’s with heavy hitting bass and rim rattling studio effects. It seems the beef is squashed between the rapper and producer and now we get the aftermath of the make-up. At first listen, it definitely takes some getting used to as Timbo abandons the synth beats and electro rhythms for a more throwback flow. That might be something that new fans are not used to but still is just as good as his previous hits. With the addition of Drizzy and Hov delivering some dope verses and James Faunterloy crooning on the hook, this is a nice taste of what is to come from the Virginia native.

If you are feeling nostalgic, take a listen to the first single off his upcoming full length Textbook Timbo, and be sure to grab a copy when it hits iTunes December 3rd.
