At Identity Fest, I thought that Chuckie’s set was by far the best. I don’t know if it was because I love dutch house, or because of his stage presence, but his act blew all other acts (including Avicii) out of the water. That being said, I just came across this phenomenal bootleg over the weekend, where Chuckie mixes Jay-Z and Kanye’s “Niggas In Paris” and Benni Benassi’s “Satisfaction”. The Dutch boy loves to incorporate rap into his sets, and I’m a big fan.

There has been a lot of hype for the collaboration of Hip/hop giants, Jay-Z and Kanye West joining forces to produce the highly anticipated Watch The Throne. Does it live up to the hype? The creative production of Kanye West is definitely apparent in the album and Jay-Z never dissapointes with his connected and fluid lyricism. For me a lot is hit or miss, where a couple tracks immediately stand out better than others.

Dark, a little creepy and maybe even a bit too over the top, the official video for Kanye West’s Monster is finally here (it had leaked last year). Featuring appearances by Rick Ross, Jay Z and a schizophrenic Nicki Minaj, the only thing that was missing was Bon Iver (they could at least have thrown in front man Justin Vernon).What you guys think?

Monster is a lot to take in at once. Jam packed with an indie-folk singer and four rappers competing for your attention; it can come off as a little unfocused. It isn’t a bad track. West has been making beats for more than a decade and his production is ever improving. The problem is that Kanye is his own stiffest competition and Monster doesn’t rank among his best. It’s a great beat, and it’s cool to see Kanye reach outside of the box and get Bon Iver on a track.

Monster works out great as a mixtape banger to satisfy the blogosphere while the rest of us wait on Kanye to release his new album, as well as his confirmed EP with Jay-Z.
