[NEW] JMSN – The One

JMSN
The One

The other night JMSN tweeted out, “Every time I listen to my new album drunk, I get excited about it. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.” To us that seems like a positive sign, and after listening to his latest single, “The One,” we couldn’t be anymore excited for his new project ourselves. “The One” is another deeply layered and atmospheric soulful masterpiece that allows us to wander along inside JMSN’s mind as he struggles to figure out whether his current lover is truly that special person. This one is definitely worthy of multiple spins as you await the release of †Pllajë†, which is due out on November 5th.

[Post-Soul] JMSN – Walk Away

JMSN
Walk Away

It’s been way too long since we’ve heard new material from JMSN. Thankfully, the Detroit crooner is looking to change that, preparing to release †Pllajé†, his follow up to last year’s debut project, †Priscilla†, on November 5th. “Walk Away” is the first single from the upcoming album, and it follows in the sonic footsteps of its predecessor perfectly. Ominous and melancholic, the song features a brooding JMSN pleading through his airy falsetto as he struggles to hold onto the final moments of a relationship he knows is over, but refuses to give up on. The aesthetic shouldn’t feel foreign to fans of Christian Berishaj, but if this is your first time listening to the talented vocalist, you’re in for a gorgeous ride. Check out the single above, and stay tuned for more in the coming weeks as we eagerly await the release of †Pllajé†.

[Chill] Kaytranada – All We Do ft JMSN

Sometimes life has us a little distracted with little nuances that we forgot what is most important or what really matters. On newcomer Katrynada‘s single “All We Do”, he teams with motwon singer JMSN to croon about easily letting a woman down  because of the simple distractions of everyday life. Although it can be considered a “break-up” song, the blending of smooth, multi-layered production with the R&B singer’s soft vocals, can leave no mate bitter. This is the first track off of the Montreal producer’s HW&W Recordings upcoming EP Kaytra Todo, dropping February 25th, and a dope but tranquil listen.

[Hip-Hop] Ab-Soul & JMSN – You’re Gone

As two of the most promising up and coming artists in the game right now, Ab-Soul and JMSN released arguably two of the best albums of 2012, with Control System and ∫Priscilla∫ respectively. When it was announced that they’d be releasing a collaborative project together this year, it’s needless to say that fans were excited. We finally have our first taste of what these two have been cooking up, and boy is it spicy. Despite this being a collaborative album, it’s clear that Ab-Soul dominates throughout this track, with JMSN essentially providing what amounts to some background vocals. Nonetheless, his presence is certainly welcome on this one. The Top Dawg influence is certainly prevalent in the production and tone of the song, causing you to expect Kendrick Lamar or ScHoolboy Q to pop out at any second to drop an ill verse. Hopefully we can get a remix with either of them sometime in the future. As for now, we definitely have a solid foundation for Unit 6, dropping later this year.

[Chill-Rap/Remix] JMSN – Somewhere ft. Gilbere Forte, ANTHM, & Deniro Farrar (JMSN Remix)

Detroit singer/songwriter/producer JMSN recruits dope emcees Gilbere Forte, ANTHM, and Deniro Farrar to remix his †Priscilla† track “Somewhere”. The mesmorizing and almost trance like cut is far from the typical underground mix but more of a Weeknd-esque deep single. Each emcee brings their own unique style to the song, but NC native rapper Denriro Farrar really takes on the eeire mood as he spits a dark yet smooth 16 bar rap towards the end. Coupled with the ghost vocals from JMSN and the haunting melody, this tale about relationship pains and woes is equally creepy as it is addicting.
