[Hip-Hop] Kendrick Lamar – Swimming Pools (Drank) (Prod. T-Minus)

Compton’s own Kendrick Lamar is easily one of the most promising young talents in hip-hop. His ability to express an extremely wide range of emotions and capture the human experience through his innovative style is truly incredible. On this track, Kendrick chooses the subject of alcohol and proceeds to dissect the topic discussing what he has witnessed in his community as well as his own experiences and mindset. T-Minus’s production provides the perfect atmosphere for the song, almost making you feel intoxicated just by listening. As usual, the Black Hippy finds ways to flip his flow through out to bring us a really powerful, multi-faceted and thought-provoking experience.

Stream/Review: Drake – Take Care

Our friend Anthony from the Needledrop created a video review for Drake’s new album Take Care, released today. We really couldn’t have said it better ourselves. The new album does provide big improvements from its previous release but it still leaves you overdosed on Drake, with over 80 long minutes of him. Some collaboration and features do give the album greater dynamics but unfortunately they also add a lot of filler. A clearly softer album showing his sensitive side, but many times things take a turn for the corny side. Either way a great video review to watch for anyone interested in the album.
