[Mixtape] Lil Wayne – Sorry 4 The Wait

The wait is over… well not quite. Lil Wayne LP Tha Carter IV is still not out but it seems this time there is nothing holding him back for an August 29th release. Apologizing for the wait, Tunechi takes matters into his own hands to make up for lost time by releasing a new mixtape “Sorry 4 The Wait”. The mixtape features all sorts of instrumentals from “Tupac Back” to “Gucci Gucci.” With features from Gudda Gudda, Lil B, Raw Dizzy and more. Like many Lil Wayne mixtapes, there are tracks that you probably wont play twice and others that you wont stop playing. There is enough good in Sorry 4 The Wait to accept Weezy apology. Enjoy.

Long-time American pop princess Kelly Rowland is back with a new track, ‘Motivation’, and what a sparkling comeback it is. It was hard to see how this collaboration with hip-hop king Lil Wayne could get any better. That is, until electro legend Diplo got involved. His unique reworking keeps all the best elements of the original, and adds some heavy beats that really put ‘Motivation’ on the must-have list for any dance fan with a love of epic remixes.

Chris Brown – Look At Me Now feat. Busta Rhymes & Lil Wayne ( Produced by Diplo & Afrojack)

I’m not sure how I feel about Chris Brown rapping, so we’ll move on. I do love the beat that Diplo (Shakira, Robyn) and Afrojack cooked up for him. A deafening baseline coupled with quirky, slippery synth remind me very much of a Kardinall Offishall record. This is good.

The secret weapon of “Look At Me Know” is a ferocious verse from Busta Rhymes, who at times raps so densely that the listener gets light-headed. Lil Wayne chimes in on the track talking about God knows what. Both artists’ verses are well-suited to the track and sit in the beat perfectly.

This is a song that succeeds as an excellent track with stellar production, Chris Brown is there, but his contributions neither lift the track to glory nor spoil it. “Look at Me Now” is Chris Brown’s first single, drumming up support for his “F.A.M.E.” album, out in 2011.

[Hip/Hop] Young Money – Bedrock (Djedjotronic Remix)

Although I can’t decipher the pronunciation of his name, I can, however get behind his production work on this track. Djedjotronic keeps it laid back and simple with his remix of “Bedrock” by Young Money. It’s a crafty alternative to the generic original. The only recognizable parts from the original song are the vocal segments. He incorporates a straight-forward but effective backdrop right underneath raps from Young Money Entertainment stars such as Nicki, Drake, Lil Wayne, and Gudda.

This remix is included on Brodinski’s newest compilation, “Best of Everything Vol. II” , which features like-minded remixes of popular Hip-Hop and R & B hits. You can find more of Djedjotronic’s work on his MySpace, and you can also read his thoughts (in 140 characters or less) via his Twitter profile.

I still can’t pronounce his name…

[Mash-Up] Jj – I’m The One/Money On My Mind + Let Them

Jj’s “I’m the one/ Money on my MInd” is soft yet hardcore stuff. The intro is the familiar sound of Intro from The XX, so its already awesome, add some Lil Wayne and there’s harmony within two different genres. Joakim Benon and Elin Kastlander (jj) took on Lil Wayne’s rough and dirty “Money on my Mind” and made it a dreamscape with their signature vocal stylings. And although its short you wonder if you just went to sleep with money on your mind. (HA i know its corny… SO?)

And lets not forget “Let them” that references TI’s “Let them Talk”, we realize that Jj can turn any rap song into a melancholy tune. You think they mind?

[House-ish] Lil Wayne Remix Without Lil Wayne

science-earth-from-space-clouds
GREAATTT TRACCKKK FROM MY INBOX! YES, the caps are necessary. This gem of a song is too good to skip. The London artists who has decided to go by the secret alias Conrank just dropped a bootleg remix of Lil Wayne’s ‘I Feel Like Dying’. However, there is a catch… THERE ARE NO LIL WAYNE VOCALS! I know that concept is a little hard to grasp as who would really remix a Lil Wayne song without using him at all? Well my friends, that is why this track is so beautiful. Conrank looped the repeated high-pitched vocals on Wayne’s ‘I Feel Like Dying’ song, who are actually sung by singer-songwriter Karma, and then added a fat injection of drum & bass and a variety of electronic elements (however a little bit of dubstep wouldn’t have hurt). The result is a very house-ish mix that builds up nicely.
