Xaphoon Jones, the production half of Chiddy Bang, has been known to make some of the most awesome remixes out. Rather than stick to hip-hop type production, he has shown versatility in experimenting with a wide range of sounds. On this take on Atlas Genius’s track, Xaphoon goes with a darker, Dubstep/Drum&Bass sound and pulls it off with ease. When it drops dramatically around the 1:20 mark, a head knod is almost impossible to avoid.
XV, from Wichita, Kansas drops another track from his upcoming mixtape Popular Culture this week. For old school hip-hop heads, this should be a rather refreshing track with multiple references to some of rap’s most famous faces. Produced by Xaphoon Jones, the mixtape is set to drop on June 15th.

The hip hop duo called Chiddy Bang has taken huge steps with the digital release of their first full length, titled Breakfast. The album’s positive reception from the singles “Ray Charles” And “Mind Your Manners” has them nearing the ten slot on Billboard’s charts solely from online sales. Their new track, “Zeros”, hopes to keep the hype going before the album’s physical release this week and hits hard enough to do just that.
South African electronic artist St Lucia has had one of his hit tracks, ‘We Got Wrong’, remixed by none other than Xaphoon Jones, one half of Philly rap duo Chiddy Bang. Taking a leaf out of chillwave’s book, this reworking is glitchy, with joyous handclaps delivering a contrasting rhythm. Add in some vibrant vocal samples and powerhouse synths, and you have ‘We Were Wrong’ gone dancefloor filler. Let this tropical-infused track warm you up this winter. Philly’s Chiddy Bang have paid homage to one of music’s greatest with new track ‘Ray Charles’. Produced by Xaphoon Jones and packed with jaunty piano and a real soul vibe with the Motown-style female BVs, it’s an incredibly fitting tribute to Charles. However, the real star of this show is Chiddy’s fast flow, which ticks all the boxes and takes this track to a new level. Chiddy Bang’s debut will be out on February 28, and will feature the sensational ‘Ray Charles’.
