[Fresh] Sleigh Bells – Tell Em (Diplo Remix)

This is the type of track that I post first and ask questions later due to my complete trust in anything dj/producer and one half of Major Lazer, Diplo. Straight out of Mad Decents Blog this is what he had to say about his latest rework of one of the most popular songs in 2010.

Derek from sleigh bellz and me have matching florida tattoos and we both are from shitty parts of broward county // & their last album was one of the sickest of ’10 .. its soo sick, its gave me a stomach ache .. half lyrnyrd skinnard half bangladesh half man half alligator.. . me and derek and alexis are bros and sis for life. in fact i like sleigh bells so much .. me and switch was in studio in nyc tryin to make tracks with derek and beyonce last week after we played her team their album .. dunno if we gonna manage to finish but was good times.

I started this mix for them like a year ago but it took derek about 6 months to send stems so it was kinda in remix limbo but i really wanted to get it out to u guys cause i think the bass and the drums sounds nice and u can play it at your next party.

Music Video for Sleigh Bells – Riot Rhythm

Could help resist the urge to post this video of Sleigh Bells “Riot Rhythm” by director Bo Mirosseni that takes the game of chess to a whole new level.

The N.E.E.T. connection is strong, as it appears that the duo have stolen M.I.A.’s controversial ‘ginger victim’ from the “Born Free” video (props to Sheena Beaston for spotting this one). With an awesome training montage, laser-eyes and a rather sinister ending, all that’s missing is an appearance from the duo themselves.

The phrase “short and sweet” doesn’t apply here. Be afraid.

[Album] Sleigh Bells 'Treats' Review

Sleigh Bells Treats album review

On their ambitious debut album, Brooklyn noise pop duo Sleigh Bells treat our ears to a fresh angle on the stagnant crunk sound with cheers, rock guitars, massive drum blasts and air-tight pop vocals. The results are immensely listenable and frequently dazzling.Sleigh Bells Treats album More often than not, the band’s music sounds like a fully-integrated mix of electro pop and 90s hardcore—an admittedly cheap comparison considering that singer Alexis Krauss was indeed once in teen-pop group Ruby Blue, while guitarist/song-writer Derek E. Miller was a long-time member of post-hardcore outfit Poison the Well. Loud-and-clear opener “Tell ‘Em” sums the record up perfectly. If you are unable to process the blaring crunk beat paired with the screaming metal guitar leads, then your attitude about the album is unlikely to change. Krauss’ sugary-sweet vocals sound like they were pulled from another song altogether, but the crowded mix makes room for her quite effectively. Read full review at inyourspeakers.com

[Fresh/Experimental] Sleigh Bells – Tell 'Em

Just as Obscure Sound puts it, “If you haven’t heard Sleigh Bells yet, you haven’t been listening hard enough. If you have heard Sleigh Bells, your hearing (and speakers) have already taken quite a beating.” Tell Em’ of their new album due literally a week from today (May 11th) is an explosive bomb of mouth watering electronic experimental freshness. A hymn with attitude that with its marching synthesized melodies crawls through your ears and stays in your brain for hours. Not sure why this song is so goddam catchy but its the combination of a different approach to pop electronics with Alexis Krauss innocent vocals trying to fight of the madness.
