Guess who’s baaaaaaccckk? Did you miss me? The Hip-Hop Dojo’s finally ready to reopen its doors for business, and I’ve got plenty to share with you today. I’ve traveled far and wide, sailed across the seven seas, climbed the highest peaks, and braved the hottest deserts to hone my craft, learning from the very best, meditating, and planning my return (basically picture the whole training sequence from Batman Begins). In all honesty though, I appreciate your patience over the last few months, and hope I can finally get back on my grind to deliver you the freshest hip-hop product on a consistent basis.

So without further ado, let’s get this party started. This very special fifteenth edition of The Hip-Hop Dojo features plenty of familiar names, from hip-hop heavyweights like Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, Raekwon and Kendrick Lamar, to Dojo frequenters like Kings Dead, MeLo-X, Audio Push, Tito Lopez, and Devine Carama, . We’ve even got a few fresh faces for y’all like Michael Christmas, Dom McLennon, A La $ole, GoldLink, and Fresco Nerd. Given the sheer size of our comeback playlist (over 45 tracks!), I’ll keep it light on the words this week to conserve your precious time and keep you focused on the music. June was definitely a monumental month for hip-hop. With album releases from the likes of Kanye West, J. Cole, Wale, and even more, it’s easy to feel a bit overwhelmed from the wide influx of new music. While we were all preoccupied with the heavy hitters, it may have been easy to sleep on some of the other hustlers out there trying to push the music game forward. I admit I fell behind myself, hence why this edition of the Hip-Hop Dojo has been sitting in my drafts for weeks now. Lucky for you guys though, we here at The Music Ninja are here to fill you in on what you might’ve missed over the last month or so.

As I mentioned earlier, this post is long overdue, which is exactly why it’s bursting at the seams with 40+(!) new tracks for a hearty heaping helping of hip-hop goodness (try saying that 5 times fast). I’ve been on my grind over the last couple of days to finally get this playlist in your hands, and there’s a reason why I carefully selected this date to finally unleash it to the world. Today just so happens to be my birthday (yes, this is a shameless attempt at getting more birthday wishes), so as my present to all of you loyal ninjas, I bequeath unto you the thirteenth edition of The Hip-Hop Dojo. Now I’m not quite crazy enough to do a summary of all the songs on this list, so this time around I’ll just give you a rundown of my favorites. Although picking out of a list of roughly 45 songs is no easy task, I’d probably have to say my favorites are (in no particular order): Curren$y’s “Killer$,” Vic Mensa‘s “Hollywood LA,” Fabolous‘ “Young OG,” MeLo-X‘s “The Truth,” Jon Connor‘s “When I Was Young,” Dillon Cooper‘s “Kung Fu” Action Bronson‘s “Heel Toe,” Produktive‘s “Show Me Love,” and finally the knxwledge remix of Denitia & Sene‘s “Casanova.” With that being said, I’d like to think each and every song in this collection brings something unique to the table. Given the length of the playlist, I suggest taking the weekend to sift through it all. Maybe you could even give it a go during your Independence Day cookouts.

With the release of Action Bronson‘s SAAAB Stories EP right around the corner, he decides to liberate one of the album’s more anticipated singles, “The Rockers” featuring Wiz Khalifa. Just as the title suggests, this laidback tune features Wiz and Bronsolino rocking over some incredibly dope Harry Fraud production. If this track hasn’t convinced you to grab a copy of SAAAB Stories, I don’t know what will. Make sure to pre-order the EP on iTunes before it drop this Tuesday, June 11th.

While last week’s playlist managed to keep things on the lighter side in preparation for the summer, this week’s load is a bit heavier. Featuring a wide array of crafty wordsmiths and lyrical masterminds, the eight edition of the Hip-Hop Dojo is bound to get your head nodding and your mind racing. While I won’t be elaborating on every track this week, please note that we do have quite a bit of diversity in this group. Most of the names on this list should be familiar to you already, but there are a few newcomers this time around too.

First off, we’d like to welcome you to “Get Inspired” by 16 year-old rap phenom, AkonoMiles. Over a soulful sample of James Brown‘s “Sunny“, the eager young emcee shows us he knows just how to have fun, while also displaying skills far beyond his years. Another new name to the mix is Nike Nando, who lets us know exactly why he’s not one to be messed with. The SAVEMONEY crew makes a return this week as well, providing a brand new song “For The People.” This was definitely a stellar week for Chitown’s Thelonious Martin, who put his production skills to the test on a multitude of different tracks, including Naledge‘s “Arthur Agee Freestyle” and Alex Wiley‘s “Icky Woods.”

The title of this week’s most unique sound might go to Weekend Money, as Ne$$ tries to exorcise his inner “Demons” over some creepy, lurching production courtesy of Baghdaddy. A-1 might have the strongest track in this week’s lineup though, with “Summertime Sadness.” Spitting over the Ryan Hemsworth remix to the Lana Del Rey single of the same name, A-1 takes the song’s title to heart, highlighting the spike in violence that occurs in Oakland as a result of the scorching heat of the summer. On “Ol’ Skool Pontiac,” Jeremih tries his hand at the rap game, opting for a more chopped and screwed, Houston sound alongside Big Sean and Paul Wall. We’ve got a few more bangers right beside that one as well with A.J. Crew‘s “Don’t Ask Me (Crafty)” and “Hate Me On The Low” from Tory Lanez. 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa bring us the theme song for Fast & Furious 6, with “We Own It,” a song that seems more appropriate for Eminem and 50 Cent circa 2005. Finally, we end things off with Yonas, who invites us to “Feel The Love” over a sample of Rudimental‘s single of the same name.

Have you ever had one of those mornings where you wake up and have trouble remembering the events that transpired the night before? Then, as you examine your surroundings, you realize you’re sitting in a brand new Bugatti? Yeah, good times. If you haven’t ever had the pleasure of such an experience (and if that’s the case, what’s wrong with you?), we’ve got a few fellas here who’d love to describe what it feels like. Featuring the likes of Meek Mill, T.I., Wiz Khalifa, Birdman, French Montana, 2 Chainz, Future and of course, DJ Khaled, the star studded remix to Ace Hood‘s hit single “Bugatti” goes even harder than the original. The first half of the song is particularly strong, with energetic verses from Ace, Meek and Tip, while the second half starts to fall flat. In the end though, we’re left with a new heater from Ace Hood, and that’s all that matters. Sorry for the delay this week folks. I had some unforeseen issues with my computer, which had me out of service for a few days. No need to worry though, because the Hip-Hop Dojo still lives on stronger than ever. To compensate for my tardiness, I’ve assembled the largest collection of music we’ve ever had for volume six. While I won’t be able to go into too much detail for this round, please note that there’s something here for everybody. Considering that last Saturday was 4/20, you know we definitely have a steady lineup of stoner anthems for you out there. From Odd Future’s Domo Genesis to longtime cardholder Redman, everybody was caught discussing the notorious green bud last weekend. We’ve also got a couple of bangers in here as well, with “94” by Kings Dead (formerly known as The Dean’s List) possibly being the standout track of the week. Additionally, quite a few artists make multiple appearances in this edition. Among them are notable names like Mac Miller, Kami de Chukwu, Los, and The White Mandingos, an alternative hip-hop band featuring the talents of Murs, Darryl Jennifer and Sacha Jenkins. Out to claim his Southern rap throne, Mississippi emcee Big K.R.I.T. drops his long awaited mixtape, King Remembered in Time this week. Seizing creative control, the 17 track album is mostly produced and penned by the underground phenom, and is completely free. He teams with mega-producer 9th Wonder on “Life is a Gamble,” and collabs with rap veteran Bun B, along with fellow newcomers Wiz Khalifa, Trinidad Jame$, Future, and BJ the Chicago Kid.

K.R.I.T. definitely delivers on this mixtape and shows off his unique talent of mixing the ratchet, trunk popping tunes with intellectually witty rhymes. Be sure to download the free tape here and grab your tickets to his upcoming West Coast tour, starting this May.
