Highlights include Nilufer Yanya’s beautiful pop-rock, Wilma Vritra’s novel take on hip-hop, gems from Omar Apollo’s ‘Friends’ EP, the latest single from French up ‘n comers Myd and a hazy remix from Paranoid London’s Johnny Aux.

This week we welcomed guitarist, singer/songwriter and ambient artist Lish Grooves just a few days before he moves to Jamaica. He played a selection of artists he’s been digging lately and a few of his own songs along with the thoughtful stories behind them. With it being International Women’s Day, the rest of the show was (mostly) dedicated to new music from phenomenal female artists spanning from pop to soul to techno.

This week’s episode covers the plethora of new releases that dropped last week including Solange’s psychedelic surprise, Weval’s long-anticipated sophomore album, a psych-rock epic from Pond, the soul-bearing third album from Little Simz and a new direction from Australian producer Charlie Murdoch. I also played some catch up on recent releases from Australian singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin, Canadian soultronic duo Planet Giza and NY emcee Deem Spencer. To close things out we got into a couple artists I saw live recently with Maribou State and Tourist before finishing up with Four Tet’s massive new Nelly Furtado-sampling single.

This week Ninja Clayton joined us briefly to preview Buku Festival and share some of his favorite artists from the lineup. With those eclectic selections mixed through out, the remainder of the show focused on a few random indie finds, new hip-hop and closed with an hour of diverse, soothing selection of electronic tunes.

Buku festival is coming up March 22nd and 23rd (find our full preview here). Also, make sure to follow Clayton’s company Cadence and Cause who are partnering with the festival for some special fan experiences benefitting a local NOLA charity.

Before getting into her quirky thumping live mix, though, we opened the show with a set of eerie electronic cuts and indie pop gems. Highlights from half 1 include Still Woozy‘s latest single, a selection Rejoicer‘s infinitely groovy album and a fantastic single from Saba. Other highlights include a chillwave-tinted jam from Mk.gee, Chance the Rapper‘s best song in a long time, an entrancing cut from Overmono and Loods delivering his signature dreamy sound for Shall Not Fade‘s 3 Years of Service compilation.
