Young Summer – Blood Love (Big Wild Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Young Summer
Blood Love (Big Wild Remix)

Big Wild has been building a dedicated following on SoundCloud since the 2013 release of his impressive debut EP, Native Echos. Last year proved a huge one for the LA-based producer, as he continued cranking out a diverse collection of sounds that mix an organic, almost tribal, sensibility towards bass and percussion with lush elements of EDM. It’s little surprise that his forward-thinking style garnered the attention of like-minded ninja favorites, Odesza, who invited him to join the North American leg of their massively successful 2014 No.Sleep tour.

Today, Odesza officially announced the launch of the Foreign Family Collective, a platform the duo will use to highlight their favorite up ‘n coming artists, through which Big Wild will be releasing his next single. With a number of major performances under his belt and support from some of electronic music’s most respected names, the rising producer has positioned himself for a huge 2015 and we’re excited to be bringing you the premiere of his latest remix.

Taking on Young Summer‘s “Blood Love,” Big Wild showcases his versatility utilizing the original’s hauntingly beautiful vocals and a minimal backdrop to lure the listener in before dropping into an absolute explosion of a chorus. There’s a certain emotional accessibility in Big Wild’s music that’s truly amplified on this addicting cut. Give it a spin above and see for yourself. Big Wild will be at SXSW and also embarking on a US tour with Kodak to Graph and OBESØN–check his upcoming tour dates here.

Flight Facilities-16Now in its 23rd year, Noise Pop Festival has become an absolute staple of the Bay Area for fans of independent music, film and art. With multiple shows every night at some of the best venues SF and Oakland have to offer, Noise Pop presented the best kind of difficult decisions on a daily basis. The Noise Pop HQ, at the newly renovated Swedish American Hall, was a fantastic destination as well hosting intimate shows, happy hours and even a live podcast recording with Toro y Moi where he premiered “Half Dome,” the eighth track from his upcoming album. Although there were plenty of activities outside of the concerts, being the ninjas we are, we’re going to focus on our favorite performances from the week. Browse through some pictures and songs in our chronologically ordered list below.

1. Flight Facilities, 2.24 @ The Regency Ballroom

Why we loved it: Australian DJ duo Flight Facilities, of the esteemed Future Classic, took stage at The Regency in full aviation gear for an energetic set. What really took their performance to the next level was live vocal assistance from talented Owl Eyes and Surahn Sidhu, member of Empire of the Sun, who covered female and male parts of Flight Facilities’ countless hits. [Hip-Hop] Lucki Eck$ – Cholos

LUCKI ECK$
CHOLOS

Lucki Eck$ first grabbed our attention a couple years back with his debut mixtape, Alternative Trap, a supremely woozy, introspective take on the trap music coming out of his hometown of Chicago. Since then, he’s continued to delve deeper into that sound releasing an impressive follow-up in Body High positioning himself for big things this year. On his latest single, Eck$’s flow actually diverges a bit from his usual drowsy charm as he employs an infectious rolling delivery to match a jazzy instrumental provided by Infamous Legends. “Cholos” still holds the core facets of Lucki’s Xanax-inspired ethos but does so in a way that feels slightly more energetic with great results. Listen for yourself above–we’re excited to see what 2015 has in store for Eck$.
