[R&B] Lido & Santell – Ashley

Lido & Santell
Ashley

It’s always a good day when we have some fresh music from Lido. The Norwegian producer has decided to bless us with a brand new single, teaming up with Santell aka “the light skinned Tyrese” for a smooth cut dedicated to “Ashley”. The R&B jam might be Lido’s most straightforward song to date, comprised of finger snaps, bass kicks and tranquil synths that hearken back to the genre’s heyday.  Though the track has been floating around the internet for about a year now, it finally gets its day in the sun as the first single from Lido & Santell’s upcoming collaborative EP, The Passion Project, set for release on October 23 through Mad Decent and Pelican Fly. Stream the tune above, and make sure to cop the EP when it drops.

Glassio – Try Much Harder (Birocratic Remix) [TMN PREMIERE]

Glassio
Try Much Harder (Birocratic Remix)

A few years ago, we introduced to our pages a gifted young up and comer by the name of Brandon Rowan aka Birocratic. We mentioned him as someone to keep your eyes on in the chill/electronic music scene, and since that time the New York based beatsmith has grown tremendously as a musician, culminating with the release of his sensational beets 3 compilation this past May. Today, we’re excited to bring you the latest testament to Brandon’s talents as we premiere his remix of indie pop duo Glassio‘s “Try Much Harder”. Though nearly unrecognizable from its source material, Biro’s rendition is equally as catchy. Gone are the hazy, laidback vibes of the original, replaced with chopped up vocals and uplifting synths. It’s the type of tune that’ll stick with you after just one listen, and we have a good feeling that it’ll make its way into your weekend rotation.

Billa – Bootlegged EP [TMN PREMIERE]

Billa is a relatively fresh face to the Chicago music scene, but don’t mistake that for a lack of experience. Though still relatively new to the art of production, the Windy City native has been DJing in the city for over 8 years, but more recently he’s spent time studying under the tutelage of other local artists like Smoko Ono (Vic Mensa, Denzel Curry) and Mojek (Towkio, Dally Auston). Inspired by his love for hip-hop and Chicago house, today Billa delivers his debut EP, BootleggedBootlegged draws its name from the fact that the project is comprised of remixes of some of this summer’s hottest songs, including revamps of OG Maco‘s “Lit”, Post Malone‘s “Too Young” and Travi$ Scott‘s “Antidote”. As the Back To The Future inspired artwork alludes to, the project boasts a futuristic soundscape, opting for a synthy-heavy, ethereal sound throughout the 3 track EP. Bootlegged serves as a great introduction to the young talent, and we look forward to hearing what else Billa has in store for the future.

[Mixtape] Danny Seth – Perception

If the name Danny Seth holds no meaning to you, now’s the time to get familiar. A British invasion on the hip-hop front has seemed imminent for a few years now, but there’s always seemed to be a cultural barrier preventing any UK artists from truly being able to break through. With up-and-comers like Seth and Little Simz knocking on the door–and Skepta finally reaching a new audience stateside thanks to a co-sign from Drake–2015 seems like the year they finally cross over. This brand new project by Danny Seth hopes to be the first step in altering your Perception of UK rap.

Perception is an album three years in the making from a young emcee who hopes to share his unique narrative of moving from London to L.A. in pursuit of musical success. It’s rare to see an artist dedicate such a long period of time into crafting their debut effort, but that kind of dedication and patience has certainly paid off. Danny does a stellar job of merging American and British styles throughout the 17 track effort. His rhymes are often witty and playful as he fearlessly tackles brash, aggressive and haunting instrumentals throughout much of the project while also showing a softer touch on toned-down records like “Danny Darling” and “On This Trip”. The refinement on Perception is clear from start to end, and the album establishes the UK native as a true force to be reckoned with. Take a listen for yourself below and it’ll be clear to you that Danny has all the tools necessary to be an extremely successful figure in the rap game.

[NEW] Ed Sheeran – Say It (Tory Lanez Cover)

Tory Lanez
Say It (Ed Sheeran Cover)

Well, this was unexpected.  Apparently Ed Sheeran had the day off today, so he decided to use his free time to record an acoustic cover of Tory Lanez‘s hit single, “Say It”. The British recording artist is no stranger to rap covers, and just as he did previously with Fetty Wap‘s “Trap Queen” earlier this year, Sheeran puts his own spin on the R&B jam, giving it a unique charm all its own. As for Tory, this is a great look for the Toronto crooner and should help the up-and-coming emcee expand his growing fan base even more. Just as we emphasized yesterday, this might be your last chance to hop on the Tory Lanez bandwagon before there’s no more room left. Stream the tune above, and let us know your thoughts on how it compares to the original.
