[Ambient] Bon Iver – Heavenly Father (Outburns Remix)

Bon Iver
Heavenly Father (Outburns REMIX)

As the sun starts to slowly creep its way up across the horizon and the birds start becoming a bit more vocal than normal, it’s a sign that we may have just spent our entire night wrapped up in the wonderful world of music. At times it’s important to take moments to truly feel the music we listen to and enjoy it for what it’s worth in that moment. Typically, music sounds and feels better the closer we get to sunrise because we tend to feel things on a much deeper level. Whenever a Bon Iver song comes on (especially at hours like this), it’s almost as if there’s a little fairy inside our mind that sprinkles pixie dust full of feelings all over the place.  When it comes to Bon Iver remixes, those are typically an off-limits area because, well, it’s Bon Iver and he is a lyrical and melodic genius. We came across a new name on our news feed a little while back by the name of Outburns. The Seattle native decided to re-work the massive Bon Iver track, “Heavenly Father” and ultimately made us stop what we were doing and get lost in the beauty that flowed into our ears, our mind, and our soul. With a subtle, Tycho-like feel, Outburns intricately weaves in soothing elements and blends them all together to form a cohesive mass of euphoria. Bon Iver’s flawless voice over this properly done remix just takes us to Swoonville and we aren’t coming back. Outburns has made this song available for download, so do yourself a favor and download your copy today – we promise your soul will thank you.

[Indie Electronic] Tokyo Police Club – Hot Tonight (Togetherness Remix)

Tokyo Police Club
Hot Tonight (Togetherness Remix)

Is it hot tonight or what? Considering it’s about 100 degrees over here in hell (Southern California) and there are absolutely no signs of it getting any cooler anytime soon, we would have to say it’s pretty damn hot. Adding to the unbearable heat is a remix we stumbled across by NYC’s very own Togetherness. Made up of St. Lucia’s Nick Paul and Ross Clark, Togetherness appears to still be under the radar – but not for much longer because these two are taking the indie electronic sound to a much more sophisticated level. Taking on Tokyo Police Club’s, “Hot Tonight”, Togetherness adds the perfect amount of heat to keep the fire burning and our body’s movin’. After giving this remix a few good hundred plays or so, we might have to go grab some sunscreen because it’s literally and figuratively going to be hot tonight.

We’re pretty stoked to have come across Nick and Ross’ little indie electronic side project, so mark our words now because  Togetherness is well on their way to being the next TMN all-stars like some of our favorite artists, RAC and The Knocks. Keep your eyes peeled on them, ninjas, because we guarantee they’re going to take off before we can even press play.

[Groovy] The Knocks – Classic (feat. Powers)

The Knocks
Classic (feat. Powers)

We deserve to wear the cone of shame with this one, ninjas. How could we possibly let the #1 song of the year from one of our most favorite artists of all time just slide right through the cracks? Last month, The Knocks teamed up with Powers and unleashed some shimmery love in their new original, “Classic”. Easily one of the greatest songs to have permeated the overly-saturated layers found in commercial dance music, “Classic” delivers with some refreshing Summery vibes to help us keep the streak going a little bit longer. With its neon disco resonance, an addictive guitar melody, and some sweet, sweet energies from Powers, The Knocks give us more the reason to make those endless days of Summer love that much more timeless.

It was a summer time, that summer high
Oh what a masterpiece
The way your eyes met mine, sweet
Like apple pie, caught in your energy
The future came to me, I see

We’re not lying when we say this song might have won the year for us (specifically this ninja, though) and our shameless number of plays can reveal so much more about how much we dig what these cats have evolved into. If you haven’t heard this song, then you’re in luck because you may or may not want to go get yourself a funky guitar, a slice of apple pie, and a sweet young thing to share those classic moments with. Support The Knocks by purchasing a copy of “Classic feat. Powers” on iTunes today – trust us – this is worth the $1.29.

[Sea Disco] book club – Young Man At The Sea (Original)

book club
YMATS

This ninja might be in a Disco kind of groove today because there seems to be a common theme with the amount of funky hits we’ve posted today…or maybe it’s just a sign that it’s Friday and we’re ready to rip our work clothes off and get all fancy for the night. We’ve got a fun new tune from an unfamiliar artist around here who calls himself/herself, Book Club. With only one song to show, Book Club introduces us to a new side of Disco in which this style exudes the type of elements one would expect to hear underwater. With some funky Chromeo-style vocal chops, some incredibly fancy sounding synths, and a catchy melody, “Young Man At The Sea” keeps us afloat in this sea disco hit. Considering this is the only information we have on Book Club, we can only hope that this person continues to  take this new sound to an entirely new level of production.

Easy (KLYN Remix)

The ninjas are out on the prowl and we just keep searching deeper and deeper into the cloud only to find you the talent that deserves to be recognized. With only 1 song, 58 followers, and roughly 1,600 plays in five days, Vienna producer KYLN hasn’t quite lit that flame…until now. After perusing through endless amounts of sounds from all over, we stumbled upon his one and only remix of Son Lux’s “Easy”, and needless to say, he gave us exactly what we want to hear at this time of day. Combining such deep rhythms with melodic elements, KYLN creates an aesthetically atmospheric setting for all of us to zone out and get lost in the moment. It is evident that he has many sources of inspiration including Hip-Hop, Soul, Indie, and Electronic music; KYLN merges these different sounds together and turned “Easy” into a the type of song that makes you want to sit outside at 4 in the morning and ponder your surroundings. Enjoy the eerie ambiance with KYLN and stay tuned for what’s to come for this talented producer.

Feels Like We Only Go Backwards (IckyBob Bootleg)

Who needs a little Tame Impala to make us feel like we only go backwards? Sounds like you ninjas need a daily dose of some hipster heroin – you know, the kind that makes you pull out your high-waisted shorts, a rugged Pink Floyd crop top, and a floral headband to make you that much more basic. Before you go and start your countdown to Coachella, we must prepare you for easily one of the illest bootlegs we’ve heard of Tame Impala’s winning song, “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards”. Located somewhere in the US is the internet’s next winning sensation, IckyBob. The young producer took this oh so charming original song and sent it through a massive vortex full of heavy-ass 808’s, a flawless build, and a breakdown that will shoot you to the moon and back. We’re not saying that this wins, but it wins. That fact that this only has 254 plays in a month blows us away…guess IckyBob is about to have a great day because all of you are about to experience this kids magic.

On. Repeat. Forever.
