[Summer] The Knocks – Classic (RAC Mix)

The Knocks
Classic (RAC Mix)

Well the internet is about to explode because The Knocks just put out their latest remix of RAC’s Summery tune, “Cheap Sunglasses” featuring the lovely vocals of Matthew Komawhich we literally just posted not too long ago. However, to make matters worse (and we mean that in a good way), RAC just dropped his remix for The Knocks’ latest jam, “Classic” featuring Powers. Ninja Clayton and I came up with the theory that these two artists came together and said, “”hey, let’s remix each other’s songs, release them one after another, and see how much the internet freaks out.” Well ninjas, their plan of taking over the internet is in full force and we’re just here waiting for SoundCloud to shut down so we can go make some popcorn and watch our social media timelines freak out.

Now that the pandemonium has been unleashed, we can share our thoughts on the latest RAC remix and praise these artists for being neat as hell. Recently, The Knocks released their newest song with Powers, titled “Classic” to which everyone was out buying apple pie and singin’ to their baes each and every day. Honing down on his ability to throw in his oh-so-calssic RAC guitar riffs, the master of remixes takes us to new heights with this stunning number. We can’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy inside and we hope you do to.

Johnny Green – Oneiro feat. Mammals [TMN VIDEO PREMIERE]

Whether we want to admit this or not (which we are happily admitting), Australian music has come to point where their sound and productions are far beyond anything we can logically conceptualize. We have become fascinated with everything about their culture, their music, and their adorable accents. Whenever we receive something from down under, we cannot help but feel like a 6 year-old child in candy store – the excitement is that real.

Today we have a stunning video to share with all of you from Sydney producer, Johnny Green. We are so fortunate to have gotten this opportunity to premiere this video with all of you ninjas because our jaws dropped and our minds opened up as soon as we finished watching this original piece of art. Johnny Green takes us all on a visually seductive journey in his latest track, “Oneiro” (Greek word for ‘dream’), to which we shoot straight through the clouds and into an entirely different realm of the universe. After having been inspired by the aesthetically pleasing sights of Casa China Blanca in Punta de Mita, Mexico, Johnny immediately escaped from his reality and entered into his “Oneiro” only to return to earth with an artistic vision that led to the inspiration of this song and video. It is clear that the Sydney producer wants to take his music and his listeners to new elevations in this mind-melting, bone-chilling, aquatic masterpiece. With a stunning synth progression, a smooth organic percussion, and a haunting vocal from Mammals singer, Guy Brown, “Oneiro” is bound to send you all into state of celestial bliss.

“Oneiro” is out now on  DJ & producer, KatXX’s label Love F.A.M.E Records and can be purchased on Beatport as well!

[Jungle Sounds] RL GRIME – Core (Party Favor Flip)

RL GRIME
CORE (Party Favor Flip)

You know you’re in for a wild ride when you see Party Favor roll up on your news feed with a tune that’ll make grandma want to put down the Direct TV Guide and go start a riot. Nothing like a good ol’ Monday anthem to get the blood pumping to the point where you literally can’t even anymore. Party Favor seems to be notorious for evoking such a vague and meaningless response, but we aren’t complaining because he always knows how to manipulate us into dancing in such ways we cannot speak of.

Earlier today, the Los Angeles based producer decided to take on the mental giant of a song, “Core” by RL GRIME to which the only way we could describe it was “bigroom house jungle noises that make you want to punch things”. Once you press play you’ll see how we came to that conclusion. Now, if you’re familiar with Party Favor, then you might know that he typically falls in the trap category of music (“Dat Booty” anyone?) but today he unleashed something beyond his sound – almost too absurd to describe. After having seen Party Favor perform his flip of “Core” the night before HARD Summer, we can confirm that everyone went bananas (us included). Since everyone seems to be having mixed reviews about it, we here at TMN think it’s fierce and diverse as hell – especially for Party Favor. We applaud him in his effort to push the limits of sound and we hope he continues to mold himself into an eclectic artist in this ever-evolving industry. As Kevin Hart would say (with aggressive hand claps in between each word) – “Do you boo boo, do you”.

[House] Lana Del Rey – Ultraviolence (Hotel Garuda Remix)

Lana Del Rey
Ultraviolence (Hotel Garuda Remix)

Do you know what time it is ninjas? It’s time for another Lana Del Rey remix to make those moody Mondays not so moody. We know, Lana is pretty much the Adele of 2014, but we don’t see her fading off anytime soon because a) Lana has fiery redhair (biased) and b) her eerie, sadgirl music makes it more fun for producers to spice things up a bit. Today we are stoked to give you the latest House hit by NYC/LA producers, Hotel Garuda, with their stellar take on Lana’s “Ultraviolence”.

The moment we pressed play, we found ourselves falling down the rabbit hole into a place where we were instantly seduced by 90’s synths, beachy basslines, and Lana’s flawless voice. Hotel Garuda turned this classic song into something truly extraordinary and we can’t seem to stop listening. If anything, we think this remix is symbolic to that of a siren in which we are sent into an elusive trance and we haven’t yet snapped out of it. These guys definitely know how to enchant their listeners – maybe too well…

If you make it out of this remix alive and want to experience the magic in a live setting, make sure to catch Hotel Garuda next month (9/26) at Webster Hall in NYC along with Tropical House king, Thomas Jack.

[Indie Disco] Saint Pepsi – Fall Harder

Saint Pepsi
Fall Harder

Not too long ago, we came across an artist that would forever make us swoon until ends meet. Not only did his previous song, “Fiona Coyne”, make us go back and re-watch every episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation, but it gave us all the reason to abuse the shit out of the replay button. If you haven’t picked up on our clues, we are talking about Saint Pepsi. Now that his tasty name is making its rounds across outlets of all sorts, the young producer has proved to us that he is on his way to becoming next Passion Pit of our time. With a huge statement like that, we have nothing but confidence in his music because it sure does speak for itself when you end up being the most blogged about artist in a little under a month. Who knows, maybe we could see his name at Coachella in the near future? A ninja can only hope so.

Just last week, Saint Pepsi released the latest gem, “Fall Harder” off his newly released EP out now on Carpark Records. As tastemakers, we are put to the challenge when it comes down to analyzing sound waves and putting them into words. Conceptually that just seems like too much to process all at once, however, when the music is as good as what we have for you today then the words just seem to naturally flow. “Fall Harder” is just auditory proof that sound is evolving into a more organic, happy state. With its 80’s style Breakfast Club guitar riffs, cheerful synth progression, and easily some of the most adorable lyrics since Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours”, Saint Pepsi makes us fall even harder in love with his productions. If you’re just now tuning out for the day then you dropped by at the perfect time, so why don’t you just press play and drown out the white noise around you.

[Feelings] Kilter – Coward (feat. Ngaiire)

KILTER
Coward (feat. Ngaiire)

Well it’s late as hell and we’re still going to post the latest Kilter track. It’s a little past 11 PM PST and 4 PM Australia time so we figure it’s acceptabe to post this regardless of the time difference only because we’re ninjas and we want to get you the latest and greatest music – even if it’s past all of our bedtimes.

Now that we got that little spiel out of the way we can get to the juice of this exciting new tune from one of our favorite Australian baes, Kilter. After a long period of being stuck in limbo (and not having updated his SoundCloud with his new music), Kilter finally unleashed the fourth tune off his latest EP, Shades (out now on iTunes), in which he reminds us all why patience truly is a virtue.

With a title like “Coward”, one can only imagine what sparked the creation behind this stunning number. Often times we question the purpose of certain songs in order to satisfy our existential train of thought; half the time we don’t really find that resolve to fill that empty void. After listening to “Coward” over and over again, it began to hit us that humans spend way too much time digging deep for something that might not actually exist; it may also be that the answer is right in front of us and we are just oblivious to the truth that is right in front of our eyes. We don’t really know what the answer is until we dive a little deeper into the mind.

In “Coward”, Kilter tells an intricate story that only we, the listeners, can subjectively define through our own experiences. At the end of our journey, we are able to say that we found our resolve within the sound frequencies themselves. The conclusive message we perceived may not be the same as yours, but hey, that’s perfectly ok because we think that’s what Kilter wants this song to represent. With its powerful resonance and impeccable progression, we cannot help but be enchanted by both Kilter’s production and the stunning vocal from the beautiful Ngaiire. The moment words flowed from her mouth and into our ears, we instantly became over-encumbered with a range of emotions which forced our souls to embark on the cleanse of a lifetime. We hope you all feel this much power from this song because we seem to be filled to the brim with feels…and we aren’t complaining in the slightest.

[Trippy] aywy. – Murder

aywy.
Murder

We decided to turn down for relaxation last night because sometimes we like to sit at home by ourselves on a Saturday night with nothing but a glass of wine, a laptop, and music to vibe out to. We all know what happens when you open up a fresh SoundCloud tab and start going through your feed – scroll, scroll, OH OK THIS IS NICE, scroll, scroll, etc. When you follow people who just repost everything that sounds way too neat (guilty), you begin to wonder where the secret stash is hidden. Well ninjas, after hours upon hours of getting lost in an inception of beats, we found something that truly resonated well with us thanks to beat master, aywy. (short for Abstract Youth).

The Sydney producer (and Co-Founder of Flow-Fi) gives us an entirely new reason to fall more in love with the Aussies than we already are. Last night (or this morning their time), the beat doctor pumped some life into our lackluster feed with his latest 2 minute and 32 second banger, “Murder”. With its killer drum patterns, a bloody beat progression, and a haunting sub, “Murder” makes you feel as if you are literally about to be sent to your demise via sound frequencies. Prepare for some anxiety with this one because shit is about to get real.
