[Review] Monstercat 017 – Ascension

After successfully topping the album charts on iTunes Dance and solidifying themselves as one of the top independent labels in dance music, Monstercat has proven that they are the next driving force in todays industry. Housing artists such as Krewella, Pegboard Nerds, Haywyre, Vicetone, and more, the label has made it clear that their forward thinking mindset, along with their elite team full of passionate artists, are revolutionizing the music world day by day.

With the forefront of their operations being among some of the most well renowned talent out there, it was only a matter of time until the next wave of Monster-kittens made their rounds to showcase their ground-breaking productions. Well, ninjas, the wait is officially over because Monstercat dropped an intense load of eclectic feels on the world last week with the release of their 17th compilation album, Ascension. Including artists such as Aero Chord, Rootkit, SCNDL, Varien!, and more, this album showcases a wide array of genres that will tickle everyone’s fancy. The ninjas here at TMN have been listening to this compilation album over and over again, to which we find something new and enticing each and every time. Through each song we are able to senselessly move to the beautiful melodies and discover the intrinsic meaning that each artist conveys in their masterpieces. In the end, one will have lost all sense of their existing state of mind and embark on an intense journey into this lucid world full of numbing basslines, spine-tingling melodies, and ear-shattering breakdowns strong enough to melt your face off.

As music continues to evolve and artists begin to experiment with production, Monstercat continues to deliver us that next big sound. Their ability to stay ahead of everyone else is what separates them from the rest of the crowd, and for that, we cannot wait until these kittens bring forth the next round of talent to make us question the word around us. Ascension has given us that conclusive resolve within ourselves and is proof that Monstercat knows the true definition of artistry. Make sure to support these artists and purchase your copy today; we promise you will not regret this decision in any way shape or form.

Zak Waters Vs. Breakbot
Over You (Baby, I'm Yours Redux) Free Download

If there is one guy who knows how to swoon you with just the sound of his voice, it’s Zak Waters. Most of us are familiar with his name due in part to his collaboration with Adventure Club and David Solano for their incredible song, “Life In Color.” Since then, Zak has been tirelessly working on his own original productions that combine both his versatility as a vocalist and his love for dance music.

Since it’s Friday and we love to give you all free music, we have a special gift from Zak with the premiere of his redux of Breakbot’s “Baby, I’m Yours” versus his own original song, “Over You.” Here at TMN, we’ve become very familiar with “Over You” since we included the track in Sunday Night Soul Volume 12 back in February, to which every couple made sweet love with this man’s voice in the background.

Well ninjas, it’s time to prepare for another night beneath the sheets, because Zak is giving out this redux version of “Over You” vs “Baby, I’m Yours” to all of his fans to show his appreciation. This funky tune exudes enough soul and sexual tension to make the clothes melt right off of your body. Grab your free download, turn up the volume, and share the moment with someone sexy.

Deorro – Dechorro (Chardy Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Deorro
Dechorro (Chardy Remix)

You know it’s going to be a phenomenal day when you see the name Deorro pop up on your news feed. The sensational producer/DJ has taken the world by surprise with the massive hype he has created for himself over these past few years. Last year, Deorro released his huge track, “Dechorro”, to which we all completely lost our minds (and our pants for that matter). Now that the track has made its rounds across every festival, club, and show around the globe, we have been anxiously awaiting for some bangin’ remixes to give us that good ol’ stanky face.

Today we are happy to be premiering an official remix of “Dechorro” from Melbourne native, Chardy. Now that Melbourne Bounce has permeated the U.S. with such aggressive force, I guess you can say we prepared for the unexpected with this remix. After listening to the the track multiple times through, we realized that we have a serious medical condition here at TMN, in which we instantly break out into hour long rage sessions regardless of where we are at. Chardy has given us a justified reason for these recurring bouts of ‘Sudden Dance Syndrome” (WebMD that – we guarantee it’s an actual disease).

Before you press play, make sure to listen to the ninja doctors orders when we say to dance irresponsibly. We promise it won’t cure your serious case of SDS, but we do promise it will make you a much better dancer.

[Dubstep] Varien & SirensCeol – Moonlight (feat. Aloma Steele)

Varien & SirensCeol
Moonlight (feat. Aloma Steele)

The mysterious Monstercat label has struck the internet again, and this time with the help from Varien! and SirensCeol. With our week looking pretty stacked with great music, these two just had to throw on an extra load of feels to our batch and give us some goosebumps to last the rest of the day.

Varien and Sirenceol are both notorious for their abstract, uplifting sound. Whether it be SirensCeol’s melodic breakdowns or Varien’s intricate use of detail, the two were bound to join forces and combine their articulate minds. So they got together and created one of the most beautiful tracks to date, “Moonlight”. The power, depth, and artistry behind this track reveals an eerie beauty that lingers in your soul. The delicate melodies and the soothing vocals of Aloma Steele bring forth a much more intrinsic value to “Moonlight”.  Varien! and SirensCeol really blew us away with this song and have ultimately changed the realm of dubstep from here on out.

Rihanna – The Monster (PS & CB Remix) [TMN Premiere]

PRFFTT & Svyable
Monster (PRFFTT & Svyable X Chris Barnhart Remix)

After a little hiatus from the internet, PRFFTT & Svyable are finally ready to put out some intense new feels for us. The two have been working tirelessly on both original material as well as some intense remixes that will ideally end up being a cat-tastrophe. We were fortunate enough to premiere their last remix of “Interlude” by London Grammar and that song took our breath away. We were able to see a softer side of their production that had us crying for weeks on end.

Today we have the honor to premiere their newest remix of Rihanna’s infamous song, “The Monster”. PRFFTT & Svyable joined forces with Chris Barnhart for this project and have blown us away yet again. The trio approached this pop song with the intention of creating a summer anthem with an emotive value and upbeat tempo that has us bringing out our inner monster. PRFFTT & Svyable and Chris Barnhart knocked this one out of the park and we can definitely picture this one going off on every main stage this year.

Grab your free download and your dancing shoes because you’ll want to be on your feet for this one.
