The Harlem Shake Video [Viral colleciton]

’Baauer
Harlem Shake’

Just 8 months ago the wonderful and catchy single by Brooklyn producer Baauer (signed to Diplo’s label Mad Decent) was released into the world, becoming one of the most memorable tracks in the trap scene. Trap of course is ‘a sound that began steeped in the 4/4 dance tradition, slowly took on hip hop tendencies until the two became one.’ With the popularization of the genre and the emergence of these catchy trending viral videos, you will be hearing a lot more of it.

It started as a simple introductory piece to youtube user DizastaMusic’s sixth installment of the video series ‘FILTHY COMPILATION’, causally dancing to the song until it reaches the drop and then twerkin’ and shaking uncontrollably thereafter. Soon, the guys from TheSunnyCoastSkate (video above) parodied the dance in a much exaggerated manner and from that point on, a viral trend was born.

Here we have all the videos we have come accross to date. Please comment below for new additions. I am sure in a couple of days we will get tired, but for right now WE CANT GET ENOUGH OF IT.

Banks – Before I Ever Met You

We will soon be like before I ever met you

The sultry vocals of LA based vocalist BANKS have never felt so honest than with her latest single ‘Before I Met You”. Submergence below a sea of crushing emotions of love lost, the cathartic melodies only enhance her potent but still delicate vocals. In lines with the production of the likes of Grimes and Purity Ring, we should expect an EP on IAMSOUND/Good Years very soon.

[Chill] Churchill – Change (Eeleye Remix)

Churchill, the upcoming band out of Denver, Colorado was original made up by founding members singer/guitarist Tim Bruns and mandolin player Mike Morter, who later expanded the band in 2009 adding bassist Tyler Rima, drummer Joe Richmond, and keyboardist/singer Bethany Kelly. But it is the Bethany’s profoundly jazzy vocals in their latest single “Change” that caused us to take notice. With soaring bravado exposed to a backdrop of rock-infused themes, Churchill brings forward a new sound track with flairs of bluegrass and folk elements.

London Producer, EELEYE elevates the single to impressive heights stripping out most of the original instrumentation for a soothing and relaxing rendition. Focusing on its predecessors vocals and emotional dynamics, ‘Change’ quickly transforms into an easily digestible track that asks you to close your eyes and drift away in its simplicity.

Wildlife Control – Different

Wildlife Control make their 2013 debut introducing a palpable and exciting new sound. Part of the reason that makes the Brooklyn/San Francisco duo so attractive is their genuine attention for instrumental harmony often wrapped around softer vocals and even delicate and somber productions. However, their latest single “Different” provides a stark contrast to what we have heard to date, instilling aggressive Sleigh Bells-like drumming with a backdrop of hazy and surreal vocals.

Whether the single is a new direction for Wildlife Control or just a playful anomaly, it proofs the bands maturity and unwillingness to be tied down to a specific sound.

Lazy Rich – Brainfreeze [Electro House]

Full of icy sharp and chilling electro bass, there is a reason why this track has gathered the support from Steve Aoki, Sander van Doorn and Diplo. But enough with the puns. Full time party engineer and dj/producer Lazy Rich has been gaining enormous momentum with the increased frequency of releasing of original material. While the Canadian producer is still known for the applied complexity and energy of each of his remixes, we are seeing a much matured confident side that truthfully, we want to see more of.

‘Brainfreeze’ in its true form is really a grounding power-ball of ‘snarling, gritty, buzzing’ basslines that tightly wrap the electro house just enough without suffocating it.

Will Sparks – Ah Yeah (TJR Edit)

AHH YEAH!

And this is EXACTLY how we like to start a new year (and every morning so far we got the release). With a fantastic year behind him including, bounce master producer TJR provides a thrilling edit to Will Sparks “Ah Yeah”. Still authentic to the original, the now translucently bouncy banger powers through a pounding tech house bassline and vocals samples, throttling momentum towards each drop. This Southern California producer just makes it look easy.

With the release of ‘Ode To Oi’, one of the best tracks of 2012 and still a strong contender for the bounciest single on earth, this new remix is really just a tease for what we can expect in the near future.
