Deltron 3030 – Upgrade (Figure Remix)

Mad dubstep scientist and producer Figure is here to lecture us on grey matter. Well not quite as educational as you think it will indeed expand your musical universe. Taking on the work of the alternative hip hop group Deltron 3030 single “Upgrade” from their 2000 self-titled debut album, Figure does just that by enhancing the song for consumption in 2012. He explains

“Deltron 3030 was essential music to me for so long that to have the groups blessing on this remix is more than a honor. Dan The Automator was more than kind enough to send me Del’s studio acapella, and Del gave me the thumbs up on the mix … In short, I am very giddy about this one!

I tried to capture the vibe of the original all while keeping my sound intact. This remix isn’t made for just dj sets… it’s for the people who grew up on this album like I did and still hold that era up on a pedestal.”

A classic case of oldschool turned newschool by the crafty and relentlessly aggressive Indiana producer.

[Dubstep] Nexus – Ginger Kids

Aside from similarities with the google tablet, we knew nothing about rising producer Nexus, out of Winter Park, Florida. Electronic music has had an explosion around the United States and it is so rewarding to see talent come out of smaller cities, granted the greater Orlando area is by no means small (with EDC making its premiere this year), but as a former resident, I am so proud to see new talent rise. “Ginger Kids” looks to be one of the handful of songs Nexus released this year but it is already out to be his greatest. The 19 year old producer lays a formidable foundation with an exuberant introduction of captivating melodies interlaced with a slow grind of a bass that is unique and fluid, setting him apart from the many dubstep producers trying to do the same.

We had no idea who Nexus was but as of today, and thanks to “Ginger Kids”, we predict a bright future.

Zedd ft Foxes – Clarity (Aylen Remix)

Updating a Zedd original is not an easy feat but when it comes to New Jersey producer Aylen, nothing is impossible. The incredible voice Foxes lends herself for this track is sure to induce more than just goosebumps as her sensible vocals glide through this progressive single from Zedd. And yet, Aylen is able to expose the beautiful harmonies of the original track while still lifting “Clarity” to welcomed, and much aggressive, heights. The rise of reconstructing songs and turning them into the next juggernaut dubstep/trap banger is far too common nowadays and it is producers like Aylen that are inherently capable of striking the perfect balance between fluid melodies combined with the harsher elements of electro house. M83 – Steve McQueen (BeatauCue Remix)

It is easy to be saturated with M83 remixes, after all their rise to popularity have paved the way for indie-seeking producers seeking special harmonics for their next electronic tune. “Steve McQueen” of French electronic band M83’s sixth studio album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming is already more than a year old but thanks to french producing duo BeatauCue, we are welcoming its resurgence. Chill Bump – The Eponym [Official Video]

The best feeling for us hipsters of music is to come across an artist that is just about to blow up, or at least we sure hope so. Chill Bump is an unconventional rap duo straight out of France. Comprised of producer Bankal and MC Miscellaneous (of Fumuj and Rytmétix) this do-it-yourself duo with enough enthusiasm and versatility have already gathered international attention. Their previous EP release “Hidden Strings” topped the charts of Hype Machine back in June. Yesterday, Chill Bump debuted the music video for “The Eponym”, of their upcoming EP “The Loop” out Dec 4th entirely for free. http://chillbump.bandcamp.com

Triad Dragons – EPIC PARTY KIT EP

Denver’s prolific artist group Triad Dragon have been synonymous with high energy music from the start. Born in 2012 (coincidentally the year of he dragon?), the trio, in full ninja fashion, have infiltrated the Electronic Music Dance local scene with the release of quality original and creative remixes (most notably the Daft Punk – One More Time remix we featured earlier this year. Just like our weekly “Party Playlists” that equip you with just the right amount of party tunes for the weekend, their latest release “Epic Party Kit EP” proves to have similar results with outstanding tracks like “Movement” and “Noise Complaint”.
