[Electronic] Bells and Robes – Latchkey (Feat. Flat Land)

Bells and Robes
Latchkey (Feat. Flat Land)

Bells and Robes first popped up on my radar last year with their album release, “One Should See Sound Pt. II.” It features a few outstanding songs with the soft electronic tones and recorded elements that have shaped their signature sonic style–definitely a catalogue we’d recommend digging into.

The other day I was happy to see that Bells and Robes are back with new music. There was a release a couple weeks ago that I missed, but luckily I stumbled on this new single, “Latchkey.” Expertly using the virtues of simplicity, the band delivers something special. Chilled keys, varied percussion and a soulful vocal part provided by the singer, Fae of Flat Land, is all Bells and Robes needs to deliver a laid-back and original sounding song. So listen up and be on the lookout for more music from this artist, I know I will be. Grab the free download above too!

[Deep House] Nick AM – Veronica

Nick AM
Veronica

Nick AM is a new artist with a knack for house music. A few days ago and I came across this track by the producer and was instantly feeling it. The subtitles of deep house can be tricky to get a handle of, but Nick AM has his sampling down and impresses listeners. When checking out a smaller project that’s just starting out, I honestly wasn’t expecting such a polished song.

“Veronica” is great for a wild club night or as top notch background music. Isn’t that the best part about quality deep house? Pumping bass and choice synth chords are brought together with classic house rhythms that keep “Veronica” moving along. The New York-based producer is  just getting started. NYC residents out there you should keep an eye out for a Nick A.M. set and follow him here. He has a sound that fits in well with the city that never sleeps.

[Trap] Baauer – Kung Fu ft. Pusha T & Future (KRNE Remix)

Kung Fu ft. Pusha T & Future (KRNE Remix)

I’ve been interested in following Baauer‘s rise to fame, beginning with the infamous, “Harlem shake.” In multiple interviews and features, he’s attempted to separate himself from the big hit and prove to everyone that he is an exceptional producer outside of the viral jam we know and love. And I think he’s done a good job.

This remix continues the trend as Baauer releases quality new music and receives solid support from talented artists. It’s an official remix of his song “Kung Fu” by the group KRNE. I’ve been following both of these guys for a long time and needless to say, it’s a good collaboration. If you’re a fan of trap music you won’t want to miss out on this one. So I highly recommend you tune in and get down.

I’m always excited to see a new project from the genre-bending artist Dream Beach. It’s been about a month since the Detroit-based artist’s last release and he’s back with a new one. I remember being introduced to this producer when his track “drove my car into the ocean got some well deserved attention. I highly recommend that you check out that song as well as the myriad of other refined tracks Dream Beach has released in the past. You never quite know what you’re going to get from this musician but all of his creations seem to be rebelliously different while still completing their specific musical ideas.

Lush vocals, soulful harmonies and crisp beats come together in the music of Brooklyn-based producer Josh Jacobson. Approaching dance music with the sensibilities of a lifelong instrumentalist and singer, Josh crafts thoughtful, organic songs to move your body and mind. Josh is a member of the Moving Castle collective and his music has gathered support from the likes of Nest HQ, Run the Trap, Suicide Sheep, and Rinse FM.

This cover of Little Dragon puts Jacobson’s vocals and jazz-inspired piano playing front & center, paired with layers of atmospheric sound design and forward-thinking electronic production. It’s a first preview of what’s on the way in his upcoming debut EP, which I’m unbelievably stoked for. Oh! And don’t forget to cop this one for free if you dig.
