Reworking Slow Skies‘ “Ice Field”, NY-based producer Thero has put out yet another classic remix for our hearing pleasure. Subtly speeding up the original track, Thero incorporates a series of tropical synth, including a xylophone melody that is both catchy and memorable. Don’t forget the killer sax line that comes in a little later that absolutely steals the spotlight. The vocals are kept to a minimal, which gives it a more organic feel. The overall feel of the tune is comparably more mature than his other work, while keeping it sexy and fresh. 2015 is going to be a big year for the tropical artist, so stay tuned in for more dope music coming your way!

Without overdoing it, Hotel Garuda incorporated a futuristic bassline and trap beat that almost resemble the sound of Disclosure. The bouncy and complex drumbeat will make you get off and dance your pants off. That’s guaranteed.

Oh Wonder has always kept a mysterious profile, as there’s little known about the British indie duo. What we do know, however, is that their release of a new song on the first of every month is always something to look forward to. For their first release of 2015, we have “The Rain”, a chill piece featuring a lo-fi approach and the group’s distinctive vocals. The way the they harmonize in octaves is highly addicting and the pure acoustic vibe of the tune, in some ways, resembles the sound of Daughter. As the synth comes in, the feel-good melody sounds oh so mellow. Even with its minimal vibe. you’ll be impressed by the complexity towards the end of the buildup, further cementing their original sound.

These chilling words will hit you right in the feels. Even though Oh Wonder only have five releases, they’ve quickly become a TMN favorite and accumulated well over a million spins on their SoundCloud page. Their album, an accumulation of these monthly gems, will be coming out in September 2015. Let your emotions marinade for a second and enjoy this relaxing goodness.

DC-based Eau Claire has been on a roll with her sophisticated remixes, whether it’s a Stevie Wonder oldie or a Mike Posner Top 40 pop hit, she manages to pick just the right tracks to remix all while showing finesse and character in her music. Reworking MIA‘s one-hit wonder “Paper Planes”, Eau Claire aims to create something that’s both inventive and reminiscent.

It starts off with a series of oriental sounding synth, accompanied by a classic house beat. The original tune is flipped and turned into a fun and loosening dance track. The subtle dissonance before the catchy drop shows the level of complexity and uniqueness of the song. Many would criticize disco music for being dull and repetitive, yet this track says otherwise. It’s definitely not your average banger. The track starts off with vocal sample from the original tune, accompanied by a series of 8-bit synth. The buildup to the juicy drop is ominous and bold, perfectly showcasing the group’s Scandinavian influence. The trip-hop approach of the track almost resembles Little Dragon, where the dark instrumentals further accentuate the pureness of the vocals.

The vocals from the original track fits perfectly with the loud and outstanding character the remix brings out. With an everchanging sound, we’re sure this might not define Royal’s caliber, but it sure raises the standard in this subgenre of electronic music.
