[Electronic] TOKiMONSTA – Drive (feat. Arama)

TOKiMONSTA
Drive Feat. Arama

The talented TOKiMONSTA never disappoints. The LA producer gives us a sneak peek of her up and coming album “Desiderium” this time around. This gem is titled “Drive”, a collaboration with singer Arama.

TOKiMONSTA incorporates smart and exciting electronic elements into this fast paced hip-hop beat, creating something so enjoyable to listen to that you can’t help but head bob and sway to it. The jumpy and detached piano synths in the beginning set the tone of this magical tune. Arama’s vocals match so well with the flow of the song, which is super fun and upbeat. The two-track harmonizing vocals are definitely what make this tune so special. It’s so good but short that it just leaves you wanting more.

Needless to say, we are extremely excited to see what TOKiMONSTA has up her sleeves. Make sure to grab a copy of her new album which comes out on 9/23. Or preorder it here.

Incorporating soul and R&B with dreamy and downtempo beats, the LA singer/producer can do it all. This song is the definition of what tranquility sounds like. The vocals feature his signature muffled sound, and the slow bass comes in with the killer piano riff. In the limited duration of the song, you’re sucked into this dream and venturing into his world of music. There’s nothing better than chillaxing and feeling at ease with just the power of a simple tune, and any song on this album does just that.

[Indie Dance] Oliver – Light Years Away EP

Oh man oh man! Here we have Oliver‘s brand new Light Years Away EP, featuring two breathtaking tunes, each exploring the realms of dance and nu-disco music.

The first track, titled “Light Years Away”, resembles the duo’s classic “Night Is On My Mind” which has that heavyweight funky bass line and ascending synths that will shake the whole place down. This song has a lengthy buildup and features deep robotic voice samples that will leave you headbanging uncontrollably. The second track, titled “Fast Forward”, is a fast-paced dance masterpiece consisting of this killer groovy synth and “Daft-worthy solos”.

We are genuinely amazed by how much the Fool’s Gold duo manages to achieve in just two tunes. They’re crossing subgenres and definitely bring up the standard in the revival of disco music. With that said, wait no more, put on your dancing shoes, get up and get movin’!

[Electronica] James Blake – 200 Press

James Blake
200 Press

After his last album, James Blake has stayed relatively quiet during summer. But we are very excited to present to you all his brand new track titled “200 Press”, because according to Mr. Blake, “only 200 are going to be pressed up”.

James Blake released this track during a radio residency session with BBC Radio 1. If you’re a James Blake fan, you probably already know about his exquisite skill set of using loops. Like many of his other songs, he takes this vocal sample and builds it up with unique beats and his occasional vocals. This song is based on this sample that goes “Gather ’round the beat like campfire…”, and with his quirky input into the beat, it turns into this creepy, mysterious and futuristic tune. It’s almost like he’s building a snowman from scratch, but it turns out to be looking like a scarecrow (excuse the excessive imagination).

This song could be a good preview to whatever Sir James got in store for us. Needless to say, we really like where he is going with his music.

Don't Wanna Be Your Girl (Thero Remix)

Following the release of his Noosa remix, Floridian producer Thero came out with a remix of this Wet’s tune titled “Don’t Wanna Be Your Girl”. Looking to set off this tropical house craze even more, Thero is definitely one of the front runners in the genre.

The synths are consonant with the original song and they always bring a smile to your face. It’s so pleasurable to listen to, you can imagine it being used in a Donkey Kong video game, or played at a Hawaiian beach restaurant. Similar to most of his other mixes, Thero always seals the deal with that killer saxophone sample throughout the song and leaving you in infatuation. The bar is set pretty high in the revival movement of tropical music, soon enough he’ll be mentioned together with names like Kygo and Klingande. Needless to say, Thero is an exciting artist to watch for.
