[Live] IYES – Simmer

IYES
Simmer (live)

To celebrate the still young days of 2015, duo IYES hands off an intimate, stripped down and live demo track entitled ‘Simmer’. After being exposed to their ability to create such rich music with releases ‘Glow‘ & ‘Toys‘ amongst others, it’s exciting to hear a more shadowy side of the pair with this cut. Birthed in their Brighton studio, we find Josh and Melis urging us to be more receptive in the most delicate times of our relationships. It sounds like loyalty. “I will make it work for you. Overcome my fears for you.” This record will help us progress toward being better and stronger partners. Their current single ‘Glow’ is out on the 1st of March, via Love by Mistake/Sony UK. IYES will be performing live @ Hoxton Bar and Kitchen, London next week (tickets available).

[Indie Rock] Prelow- I’ve Been Drinking

Prelow
I've Been Drinking

Prelow is building off an impressive run of single releases – ‘Mistakes Like This’ has racked up over 1.2 million plays, plus ‘Simple Song‘ & ‘For The Team‘ have combined for nearly 500k spins. All three records are featured on their EP, Why Does Everything Happen So Much, which was recently made available on iTunes. ‘I’ve Been Drinking’ is track four of five on the slender debut from the young NY duo. This record draws out memories and solicits an apology. The production is reminiscent of a good time in your life and is very steady. Jesse & Matt played a set at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn on Wednesday to celebrate the release of the EP. Hopefully a tour will rollout shortly.

[Alternative] Tor Miller- ‘Hold The Phone’ & ‘Midnight’

Experience the talents of Brooklyn based Tor Miller with two cuts from his Headlights EP coming Feb. 2 on Glassnote Records. With his genuine pen and natural tone, this twenty year old is on his way to major success. These imaginative tunes are spirited and true. You’ll find yourself lost in the extraordinary piano work and gladly carrying the weight of Miller’s vocals on ‘Hold The Phone’ & ‘Midnight’. It’s easy to enjoy and support music with such backbone. In addition to Zane Lowe premiering ‘Midnight’ on BBC Radio 1, Billboard provided the initial online coverage, labeling it as a “stirring ballad.” His debut EP is sure to attract plenty of attention. It’s not everyday we learn of such a talented piano player.

[Electronic] eltiano- Duo

Elton Peters is eltiano. A photo taker, creator, and music maker who resides in Cork, Ireland. With less than a year of experience producing, 19-year-old eltiano delivers gold with ‘Duo’, a euphoric take on the hit single, ‘Do You’, from Miguel. This remix was started back in August and finished sometime last week after Elton suddenly found the drive to finish it. It would have been a shame if we had to wait any longer for its release. He resembles a certain group of rising producers on this record, like Gravez, and is a charming addition to their party. His kit knocks and liberates you from feeling anything but the warm vibrations. Enjoy this record.

[Event Review] Mord Fustang – 1/20, L.A. + New LP

Mord Fustang
"Elite Beat Agent"

There was a lot on January 20th that Mord Fustang enjoyed. Tuesday marked the release of his debut album, 9999 in 1. He hosted a party at Los Angeles’ LASH Pop Up to celebrate, joined by Le Castle Vania – with Schoolboy in spirit – and many friends. Guests and press enjoyed daring electronic music into the night. Classic arcade activities were offered on free play in honor of the LP being inspired by pirated video games Mord played as a child. Patrons indulged in Donkey Kong, Marvel vs Capcom, and Galaga amongst others. The guests who arrived early were huddling around watching and challenging each other. My favorite was the Pac-Man machine found in the back lounge.

This crowd came to enjoy themselves. The club was filled with baseball caps, graphic t-shirts, glitter and freaks. Music enthusiasts were live tweeting, shazaming and forming circles to show off their ability to shuffle. Male photographers were taking selfies with concertgoers. Plain and simple, the atmosphere was fun and the new music from Mord was right where I hoped it would be in the live space. “Elite Beat Agent” is truly fantastic. Listen above. Although the venue offered minimal production at the event, it’s obvious that the performance of this record on massive stages will dominate. With the delivery of this record coming early in the year, I’m expecting it to carry strong into the spring and for plenty of you to see him on tour! Head over to iTunes to purchase 9999 in 1.
