[Future] Rihanna – Rudeboy (AObeats Flip)

Rihanna
Rudeboy (AObeats Flip)

When you see a Rihanna remix on your horizon, it’s easy to have doubts. We’ve had really good and really bad edits of everyone’s favorite bad girl; luckily this one falls into the former. AOBeats is one of the best talents you may have not heard of and on his newest remix to celebrate 5,000 on Facebook, he’s out to prove why. Perfectly blending together the island sounds that made “Rudeboy” a radio jam and the future beats sound he has pioneered his budding career, the Moving Castle-affiliated beatmaker truly sets the bar higher with his effort on this one.

[Hip Hop/Rap] Tate Tucker – M.O.E.

Tate Tucker
M.O.E. (Prod. Garrett Lodge)

It’s unfortunately far too rare for music videos these days to serve a purpose and visually tell a story that the lyrics sometimes cannot. We are constantly bombarded with product placements and sex appeal in our entertainment, so it’s extremely refreshing for upcoming talent to show that the art of the music video isn’t truly dead. I am of course referring to Tate Tucker’s newest project “M.O.E.”. Obviously, the title refers to the common phrase “Money Over Everything”, however this isn’t your typical boom-bap club hit. Tucker is one of the most creative people in the game today and it clearly shows with not only the record itself, but the visuals as well. The video is nothing short of a wild ride, whether it’s a day-to-day portrayal of Tucker’s life remains to be unseen. However, it packs more action in it than “Anaconda” on repeat for a month, and is definitely worth checking out.

[Chill] Bob Marley – Waiting In Vain (RÆVE Feat. JahSon Cover)

Bob Marley
Waiting In Vain (RÆVE Ft. JahSon Cover)

Every blogger worth his salt has heard at least four hundred Bob Marley covers or remixes in their day. As you can see, it’s very easy for the quality ones to get lost in the mix. And even if they are good, they usually aren’t too creative. However, RÆVE & JahSon are here to flip the script with their own interpretation of “Waiting In Vain”. JahSon lays down an incredible cover of the Marley classic, while RÆVE does the rest with his own blend of tropical sounds and house beatwork. As the winter months draw close, expect the Ninja team to keep this one in heavy rotation.

[Hip-Hop] PKeys – Not To Play With (Prod. KAYTRANADA)

Not To Play With (Prod. KAYTRANADA)

Let’s all just be honest here: everything Kaytranada touches is fire. He’s never produced a single bad beat, and rappers are always eager to go in on his latest and greatest. Take PKeys for example. He’s been building up quite the resume on Soundcloud, going in on producers ranging from CRNKN to Kanye West. He’s still got some ways to go in the rap game, however the fact that this fell into our lap should be a big milestone for him. “Not To Play With” is crisp, precise, and in-your-face, which is probably how Kaytray envisioned the results when he dropped this on his Whatever mixtape this past May. Be on the look out for big things coming from PKeys.

[Chill] Nate Dogg – Gangsta Walk (Prince Club 6am Bake Mix)

Gangsta Walk
Nate Dogg (Prince Club 6am Bake Mix)

How does a child of the 90’s even begin to describe Nate Dogg‘s legacy? Voice of a generation, national treasure, crooner, OG, regulator–these are just a few of many words used to describe Nate and the contributions he and his silky voice gave to hip-hop and the music community as a whole. He is sorely missed every day, however his name will never be forgotten as long as lads like Prince Club continue to create art. The Montreal duo have been hard at work over the years trying to reinvent the idea of club music, and I must say they are not far off. I brought you guys to 4 AM just a few days ago, so now let’s move the clock forward a couple hours. On their “6 AM Bake Mix”, Prince Club revamps the late Nate’s song “Gangsta Walk” with several vocal anecdotes sprinkled throughout, mostly from his work on “The Next Episode”. It’s not what you’d expect at all for late night club sounds, but it works surprisingly well and is an excellent tribute to boot.

[Hip-Hop] Run The Jewels – Blockbuster Night Part 1

Run The Jewels
Blockbuster Night Part 1

What a year 2013 was for hip-hop. Kanye, Cole, and Mac all released chart-topping albums on the same day, while others like Drake and Jay weren’t too far behind. However, one of the most criminally slept on projects of the year was Run the Jewels. Released on Fool’s Gold Records, it still got major blog play, but El-P & Killer Mike‘s first collaborative album was unable to penetrate the mainstream cycle. Simply put, these two are a match made in hip-hop heaven. El-P provides the most in-your-face beats the rap game has seen in a minute while Killer Mike proves his pseudonym to be true as he quite figuratively kills the mic on each record. Run the Jewels 2 is due out next month, but the guys have been kind enough to share the first single off the upcoming project with us. “Blockbuster Night Part I” picks up right where the previous album left off and if this is any indication, the sequel album may be even stronger than the first.

[Hip-Hop] Wiz Khalifa – This Plane (nosleep remix)

Wiz Khalifa
This Plane (nosleep remix)

If you’re in the 20-25 year old range, there’s a strong possibility you heard “This Plane” at every party you went to as a teenager. Mixtape Wiz was a force to be reckoned with, and his big single still has staying power today, even more so now that nosleep decided to take it for a spin. The Pittsburgh producer is well-known for his unique hip-hop remixes, however he flipped the script on this one and tried to recreate the Bay Area style of hip-hop. If you ever imagined Wiz & E-40 or Mac Dre on a track, this might be the closest you will ever get. We personally can’t get enough of it, so I hope you guys enjoy it as well!
