[Chill] Christian Rich – Real Love

FMM: Christian Rich
Real Love

We’ve used chill to describe everything from tropical house to stoner rap; however this track from Christian Rich is the perfect embodiment of the word. “Real Love” reminds us a lot of early Daft Punk and their guitar licks, but knowing this Angeleno production duo, we can tell this was completely created from scratch. The two have made a name for themselves producing for some of the best rappers in the game today, however this cut on their debut EP “SS14” shows they can switch the style up with ease. As an added bonus, they shot it over to our favorite Annie Mac who has rereleased the record for free so you really have no excuse not to cop this one!

[Electronic] Cazzette – Sleepless (Jonathan Kane Remix)

Cazzette
Sleepless (Jonathan Kane Remix)

The artist formerly known as Shreddie Mercury has struck gold again. Now known as Jonathan Kane, the soundscaper hailing from Missouri has been seeking to reinvent his brand of music, but he has not forsaken his godlike skills in creating gorgeous melodies, as we can see here on his Cazzette remix. “Sleepless” has been remixed to death in recent weeks, however none can create quite the emotional landscape the lyrics portray like Kane. In what seems like a lost track of Porter Robinson’s “Worlds”, Kane takes the track into his own hands and creates absolute magic with it.

[Chill] Anna Of The North – ILYAF 1996

ANNA OF THE NORTH
ILYAF 1996

We have selfishly been hiding this track from you guys for far too long. Anna Of The North is, bar none, the greatest talent you’ve never heard of and that has gone on for far too long. I think it’s only fair to end my blogathon run with this track as it is my personal favorite and one of the most played songs in my personal collection. Donna Lewis’ 1996 karaoke classic “I Love You Always Forever” may be forgotten in the eyes and ears of most, but not Anna Lotterud of Oslo, Norway. This future legend dusted off the record and recruited producing extraordinaire Brady Daniell-Smith to recreate and as you can see, it is streets ahead of the original. Anna’s silky and warm voice pays tribute to Lewis’s rendition but, over Brady’s dream pop composition, becomes a euphoric and infectiously happy cover. I challenge ever Ninja to listen to this once (or thirty times), by the end you’ll be smiling, guaranteed. But this starlet’s catalogue doesn’t end here. Her Sway EP, now on iTunes, is one of the best 1-2 punches of 2014. Sway, America’s next great radio hit, is already turning major heads in both the creative and A&R sides of the industry and the B-side, Undervann, is one of the most hauntingly beautiful things you will ever hear. The future is so bright for this young artist (and her production team) and we can’t wait to see how far she’ll go!

[Electronic] Deadmau5 – Strobe (Prince Fox 15k Private Stock Edit Pack)

Deadmau5
Strobe (Prince Fox 15k Private Stock Edit Pack)

There are a few certainties in this crazy trip we call life: death, taxes, and that Prince Fox is the future of electronic music. Now to us, “Strobe” is one of the most sacred compositions ever constructed; any remix or mashup is ungodly yet we still see hundreds being released each year. I’d say the only reason I even gave this one a look is because it was done by Prince Fox so I trust the quality, and quality it is. You may think you’ve heard Strobe every which way: progressive house, dubstep, nightcore, any genre under the sun. And even if there are several future bass remixes out in the market, none can come close to Fox’s effort. What this NYC producer has done is recreate one of the most gorgeous melodies to ever grace our beloved world and add even more to it. Don’t think of this as a deadmau5 remix, think of it as what Joel could have accomplished when he first created this track five years ago.

Imagine Dragons
It's Time (Matoma Tropical Remix)

We’re not running short on tropical house remixes by any means this weekend so let’s just keep churning them out with Matoma’s newest effort, his own rendition of Imagine Dragons’ “It’s Time”. Good Imagine Dragons remixes are too few and far between however, when one off them strikes gold, it’s an absolute treasure.  Matoma, as you know, is one of many Norwegian producers to try their hand at the tropical vibe and he does it extremely well, producing his own gorgeous melodies that will leave you with a smile on your face long after the song has ended.

[Chill] Flamingosis – Juicy

Flamingosis
JUICY

Every beatmaker worth their salt has at least sampled Biggie at one point in their career. It’s a completely different story when one goes above and beyond and creates an entire instrumental around a track, which is exactly what Flamingosis did with “Juicy”. We think you’ll find the redesigned beat to be much more jazzy, which is definitely an interesting take on a classic. The original is textbook hip-hop flaunting so we think this more refined, exotic beat fits the lyric material perfectly, but you be the judge. What do you think?

[Chill] Krubera – Bleach

Krubera
Bleach

UK up-and-coming bass enthusiast Krubera has established himself as one of the hottest talents to look out for in 2015 with “Bleach”. Chill trap is really still being defined as a genre and the limits are being pushed every day, however Krubera rightly earned his place at the table as he hammers home the 808s. However, it’s more than just the drum work that makes this song so hot; Krubera isn’t too shabby at creating melodies either. I see some producers and labels putting out instrumental way less creative than this on a daily basis so let this serve as a notice to Krubera that his time will come very soon.
