[Electronic] SOHN – The Wheel (Mazde Remix)

SOHN
The Wheel (Mazde Remix)

Mazde is a sensational upcoming producer from Germany. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because he brought us this absolutely sublime Disclosure edit that I’m sure even had Flume sweating. The twenty year old has been hard at all work all summer on this new edit of his and the finished product has arrived and it was well worth the wait. SOHN has become a household name in the past couple years and his staying power is solidified even more with this crafty production by Mazde, adding on the alt-indie single’s downtempo backing and bringing it to the forefront with some excellent production chops. This wunderkind just got picked up by the guys over at Stoney Roads, so you can guarantee that his efforts will exponentially grow in both quality and quantity from here on out.

[Electronic] Madeaux – One Time

Madeaux
One Time

All puns aside, it will only take one time listening to this track to fall in love with it. If you’re not familiar yet with Madeaux’s sound, this song does a pretty solid job of showcasing his talents. His range is eclectic at the very least, with influences ranging from garage to house to bass music. Throw in some soulful R&B samples and you’ve got yourself a Madeaux track, in this case “One Time”. The bass-bumping Los Angeles-based producer decides to take on Alicia Keys for his latest sampling choice and it’s a solid smash. He’s got an EP out very soon so be on the lookout for that in the future and if you’re still not sold on him as a producer, check out his other works.

[Electronic] Bon Iver – Heavenly Father (Modus Coco Remix)

Bon Iver
Heavenly Father (Modus Coco Remix)

Everyone and their mother has remixed Bon Iver to the point where it’s almost unappealing. We can give you ten “Skinny Love” remixes off the top of our heads as we write this. Justin Vernon’s genius is well recognized throughout the world, especially in the music community, so it is very rare to find a tribute that stands out from the rest of the pack. However, Modus Coco continues his sensational debut as a solo artist as he puts his gorgeously enchanting spin on “Heavenly Father”, Vernon’s latest and greatest single. Coco, formerly of Shapes of Light fame, has given us a couple originals and a Sufjan Stevens remix, however this might be his best work yet. He breathes new life into the composition with new melodies and distorting Vernon’s voice to an almost ethereal level. We are absolutely in love with this piece and we hope you are as well!

Ain't It Fun (Kavalier Cover) feat. Molly Williams

We were just about to share a different song by Kavalier when this popped on our radar. Molly Williams has always dazzled us with her sublime talent but we were blown away when she made the pop crossover and joined Kavalier on this Paramore cover. “Ain’t It Fun” maintains the upbeat, airy vibe of the original, however something must be said of Sean and Jake’s reconstruction of this track, especially the almost distorted bassline by Sean. This is just one of many features in their cover series so be sure to keep tabs on the Kavalier boys as well as the gorgeous Molly Williams.

Black Balloons (lost kings remix)(Radio Edit)

It’s very rare to find a progressive house remix of an alt-indie track that not only fits, but bumps as well. Luckily for us, our friends lost kings were up to the task and they took on Local Natives’ “Black Balloons” in a stunningly energetic and melodic edit. Scrapping the track down to the vocals and working their way back up, the Angeleno duo creates gorgeous and uplifting riffs in what can only be described as a remix perfect for closing out festival season.

Wait (Jerry Folk Remix)

Golden Hare Group, who has brought you Kygo and Thomas Jack’s infectiously wonderful sounds, is back with a new act by the name of Jerry Folk. Folk is an eighteen year old from the seemingly endless talent pool of Oslo, Norway and on his newest release he takes on one of this summer’s most popular songs in Lemaitre’s “Wait”. Laying on some incredible guitar licks, Folk adds on to the warm energy on this one and gives it a much deserved tropical feel. This certainly won’t be the last we’ll hear from Jerry Folk so be sure to keep checking the site for more of the upcoming producer!

Truly Dear

I’ve got an absolute gem to share with you all tonight. Coming to us from Burlington, North Carolina is a new quartet by the name of Love & Valor. They’ve had a fair share of covers in the past, however “Truly Dear” is their first original piece and I am absolutely blown away by it. According to the band’s Facebook page, each member contributes to the writing process, in melody and lyrics, and the result is a collaborative effort that may just change your own perceptions on modern folk music. This indie love ballad is sure to resonate with you long after the song has ended and I cannot help put keep this song on repeat. It is masterfully gorgeous and I can’t help but share it with my fellow Ninjas.
