[Nu-Disco] CAPPA – Killin’ It (Eau Claire Remix)

CAPPA
Killin' It (Eau Claire Remix)

Rachel Wong’s consistent evolution and progression of sound through her Eau Claire project has been a hot topic of conversation around TMN lately. The DC based disco slayer has continually raised expectations with every passing release, most recently being featured through a properly deep take on Marvin Gaye’s “How Sweet It Is”; and shows no signs of slowing down her assiduous output. Today, Eau Claire’s teamed up with Nashville by way of Philly artist CAPPA to author a disco infused remix of “Killin’ It”, taking the original’s slick downtempo pop feel and framing it gorgeously through a syrupy, even more danceable lens. As the weather turns a bit warmer stateside, we’re expecting to hear this one on rooftops and pool parties all season. Stream Eau Claire’s “Killin It” remix above, and grab a free download here.

[House] Flight Facilities – Down to Earth (Sean Glass Remix)

Flight Facilities
Down To Earth (Sean Glass Remix)

If there’s one thing we enjoy other than music here at TMN, it would have to be giving back. We’ve been privy to some phenomenal opportunities through our global distribution of great music, and with multi-faceted music industry mogul Sean Glass‘ latest remix, we’ve got another chance to help do some good. The Win Music founder is back with only his second official release, choosing to take Flight Facilities’ “Down to Earth” even closer towards the dance hall behind a tasteful and subtle melody shift, and glittery four-four kick-drum.

Glassnote Records, Future Classic, Win Music, Flight Facilities and Sean Glass are teaming up and offering Glass’ remix to the Dan Fredinburg Foundation. About the free tune, Sean Glass shed some more light on the situation: “The remix release has been made even more special to me because of recent events. We lost a good friend whom I looked up to–Dan Fredinburg.” (Fredingurg was part of an Everest summit team when the first Nepalese earthquake hit and was tragically lost). Also adding: “This week, there was another earthquake in Nepal. They really need our help. We have launched the Dan Fredinburg Foundation and already raised $100k. It only made sense that while I put effort into spreading awareness for my remix, I use that energy to help the causes that are really occupying my mind and heart–rebuilding Nepal and #LiveDan.” The track will be offered as a free download when users follow @DanFredinburgFoundation on Twitter and we’re encouraging everyone to donate www.crowdrise.com/CelebratingDan.

[Electro-Pop] Goldroom ft. George Maple – Embrace (Alternate Version)

Goldroom
Embrace (feat George Maple)

It’s almost difficult to believe that we’ve been posting Josh Legg’s Goldroom project for just under half a decade now. From humble production beginnings authoring breezy disco remixes of his favorite artists for fun, to making audiences of 100,000+ swoon in collective adoration, to what has now become a full-fledged live act behind some of this generation’s most recognizable alt-anthems; Goldroom’s trajectory has been nothing short of major-motion-picture-esque. One of those anthems however, stood head and shoulder above the rest when it came to this writer’s personal touch: the emotive pop scorcher “Embrace”. Why would we be covering a tune that was released almost two years ago on an extended play of the same name though, you ask? Well that’s simple. In a new series of tunes through Snapchat and behind a new EP It’s Like You Never Went Away (our favorite line from “Embrace” by the by), the tune has been finally unveiled in its truest form; with rangey female warbler George Maple on lead vocals. To elaborate, Legg stated: “George Maple and I actually wrote ‘Embrace’ together, so having this come full circle, and to have her singing on the song, feels like a dream. The song Embrace is all about re-connection, and so having George back in my studio again, singing the song, felt like it was meant to be”.

There’s certainly not much more to be said than that. Stream Goldroom’s entire new EP on Spotify here, or purchase through iTunes here, and check out Goldroom’s latest run of tour dates below. For now, let’s bask in the glow that is the purest form of Goldroom’s “Embrace”.

[House/Future] Riton feat. Jagga – Need Your Love [TMN Premiere]

Riton Feat. Jagga
Need Your Love (Original Mix)

Every now and then, a tune curiously surfaces, receives loads of praise from those in the know, then seemingly vanishes into thin air. Such was the case with dynamic dance producer Riton‘s single “Need Your Love”, which appeared on the OWSLA Egg Nog compilation back in December, only to wander the interwebs aimlessly until finally finding a worthy stronghold. The shapeshifting club tune, which draws on sonic elements from the deep, future, and classic corners of house production, to a smattering of electro influenced percussive rumblings, and a foundation penetrating vocal from London based vocalist Jagga; finally finds a proper home through tastemaking club imprint Love & Other Records, and we’ve been chomping at the bit to share “Need Your Love” before anyone else. With the type of sternum-thumping melody and infatuating vocal track which attracts the staunchest of dance aficionados to the most casual of club consumers, it’s quite simple to see why “Need Your Love” has already received support from artists across the dance-music spectrum including Skream, Tiga and James Zabiela.

Riton’s full Need Your Love EP hits Beatport on June 8 with all official retailers following suit on June 22, so get a leg up thanks to your trusty Ninjas and stream “Need Your Love” below.

[House/Indie-Dance] Marvin Gaye – Sexual Healing (SNBRN Remix)

Marvin Gaye
Sexual Healing (SNBRN Remix)

With every passing release, the snowball turned avalanche that is LA house and indie-dance ace SNBRN seems to somehow garner even more momentum. Coming off of highly trafficked original single “Raindrops”, the dance-hit molding son of So-Cal again drops by TMN with a welcome return to the remix world in the form of a “sunset-house” take on the 1982 Marvin Gaye single that launched a million children: “Sexual Healing”. SNBRN takes Gaye’s sultry soul ballad straight into his addictive realm of House production through a directed, floor shaking bassline and mindfully plucked vocal chops; creating a fusion between the past and present that simply has us shaking our hips in vigorous approval. If we were the betting types of Ninjas, we’d wager that this one is about to go on a viral tear to coincide with the impending waves of Summer (at least here in the States).  In regards to this latest release, SNBRN gave us a little more insight:  “This track has been a staple in my live sets for months now. I wanted to create something super funky and upbeat, but still have that soul to it. For a long time the instrumental had no hook, until one night I started cutting up old 80’s records and found the perfect fit…”  We think he’s found the perfect fit as well. Stream SNBRN’s remix of “Sexual Healing” above, and please, try to contain yourselves.

[House] Bordertown – All This Before (Part 1) EP

Bordertown
All This Before (Part 1) EP

If there’s a healthier way to kick off a Friday morning than with a steady diet of refined, tasteful house music, well… that’s news to your trusty Music Ninjas. Luckily for us, filling our Friday morning prescription of House music is Bordertown, the illustrious duo of Ministry of Sound Radio host Ricky Simmonds and UK club staple Luke Saunders. The duo’s latest single “All This Before” has already begun receiving loads of credible support from the likes of The Magician, Thee Cool Cats, Roger Sanchez and Tensnake, and from one quick listen it’s quite easy to hear why. Based off of an exquisitely rendered and expertly pitched vocal sample from Whitney Houston’s timeless “It’s Not Right But It’s OK”, “All This Before” builds its groove quickly behind crisp, shuffling hi-hats, and a rolling set of club tuned kicks and snare. The real star of Bordertown’s latest single however comes in the form of wobbling sub-bass, which plays in succinct harmony against the tune’s air of sophisticated club production.

The fun doesn’t quite stop there however, as included on Bordertown’s latest extended play are a couple of incredibly different, but equally successful remixes from Volac and Jack Ritchie (aka Bearcubs). We’ll just go ahead and let you decide which mix stokes your proverbial dance fire in the mean time. Bordertown’s All This Before EP is out now on Beatport through the always forward thinking House curators at Love & Other Records, but since you’ve made it this far, check out the entire EP below.

[House] The Knocks – Classic (Pat Lok ShyMix)

The Knocks
Classic (Pat Lok Shymix)

Vancouverite Pat Lok‘s name has been getting more graciously thrown around the TMN offices as of late. Behind a stellar debut with one of our most looked-to tastemaking dance labels Love & Other Records, “All In My Head”, a phenomenal flip of Gold Fields’ “Hold Me”, and general output of sterling remixes over the years, the house dispensing Canuck has quickly become a scorching commodity within numerous corners of niche dance production. With Lok’s latest rework, he’s taken on another TMN favorite: NYC’s The Knocks and their infectious dance-pop hit “Classic”. Lok maintains the Summery integrity of the original, but pulls those unmistakable vocals away from the Beach and into the club with myriad deep synths and classic Chicago house grand piano stabs to instill an utterly unique groove within the original.

Don’t miss Pat Lok on tour this summer, starting May 30 in Denver, Colorado (be on the lookout for a giveaway on that one) and check out his full run of dates below.
