[Trap] Calvin Harris – Blame (Pipe Down Chachi Remix)

Pipe Down Chachi
Blame (Pipe Down Chachi Remix)

2014 started with a wave of fresh Australian talent producing unique music powerful enough to carve out a signature style that formed a communal identity around the ‘Australian sound’. It wasn’t that long ago at all, but as the year progressed the trend continued to evolve as its popularity proliferated around the globe, and it almost fell victim to its own identity crisis as ‘future’ became the new buzzword to hit the net.

Despite how it sounds, this isn’t a post done in mourning at all, but quite the opposite. This is a declaration that the world-renowned ‘Australian sound’ has not faded away into the background just yet, because there are still plenty of artists out there to be discovered, and where better to find them than the musical hotbed of Sydney. Pipe Down Chachi may be a new name to us here at TMN, but this bright and colorful Calvin Harris remix is just the example we needed to showcase what the scene down-under still has left to offer. In this case, it’s heavy hitting trap kicks and an infectious synth-driven melody that’s bound to stick in your head for days. Soundcloud may have removed the initial upload of this track and taken the wind out of the momentum it was garnering online, but we’re here to return this one to its rightful status and once again give it the attention it deserves. Takes more than that to keep a good tune down!

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #103

A mix of tropical vibes and seductive sax is always a winner when it comes to the Chill Dojo, so there’s no overlooking this feel-good remix by one of our recent favorites in Boehm. The Romanian producer is another to add to the ranks of artists crafting quality beachside sounds, taking the sensitive original and lacing it with the sensation of a setting sun. The talented Autograf has also thrown his hat into the tropical ring this week, bringing a complex mellow sounding spin that many would recognize as “future”. No matter what you want to label it, it’s one of the best Lorde mixes we’ve heard, and we’ll call attention to it as much as we can. Moving into even deeper territory now and one of Germany’s finest in Daniele Di Martino has teamed up with a fellow countryman in Max Joni for a stellar take on the iconic ‘Open’ from Rhye. The dreamy lyrics of the original take on a completely new life in this brooding interpretation, driving the listener further and further into the hypnotic, addictive groove.

Speaking of vocal power, this next tune from Belgian-born BABEL is an absolute delight. You’d find it near impossible not to hang on every word from the heavenly Wrenn for the first minute and a half, until the stunning atmosphere takes control and brings this creation into the realm of perfection. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, sweet sweet sax. There are plenty more feels to give where that came from though, and the cult favorite tennyson is just the man to be dishing them out. The appropriately titled ‘With You’ is a track dripping with sultry flavors from the get-go, and it’s not long before that leak bursts into a wave of utter smoothness and desire. Not sure about you, but could you really go for a cigarette after listening to this or what? In any case, what does go down really well afterwards is the latest mind-trip from Saturn. ‘Looking Glass’ is one of those songs with the ability to break consciousness in a snap and transport you to whichever dimension the astral soundscape chooses.

Let that journey continue even further with the rest of these delicious selections chosen for you. Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #102

The Chill Dojo is back after a little hiatus, but we’ve still been keeping our ears out during the two week break to make sure you don’t miss a thing. To make up for the time away, this catch-up playlist is over 50 tracks strong to bring us all back to speed on what’s been happening in the world of chill music.

We covered this one when it came out over a week ago, but there was no denying ‘Fantasy’ from topping the list of our return edition. Seductive songstress Alina Baraz has been teaming up with the sensual sounds of Galimatias for a while now, but nothing has come quite so close to musical perfection until now. From the very moment this song begins, the dreamy atmosphere and angelic vocals shroud your mind into a vision of pure serenity. From there, this glorious hypnotism is led along by the beat like a benevolent puppetmaster whose performance is tragically limited to under 4 minutes. Needless to say, it made us feel some kind of way.

Next up, we have WRLD once again draw us into his universe of future music bliss, and ‘Triumph’ is every bit a success as its title suggests. It’s a unique dimension where jungle beats meet massive chords fueled by the power of pure ecstasy, and it’s ready-made to be the soundtrack for moments of epic proportions. If you haven’t learnt by now, we’re a little obsessed with sounds like this, so it’s fitting we have one of our favorites in Pusher continue the trend with two of his own magical concoctions he cooked up during our downtime. His latest remix of Jack U is set to be his biggest track to date, and it’s not hard to see why this one should put him on the radar as a certified talent in the future game. And speaking of games, his recent original ‘ABXY’ shows off his signature style that is every bit true to his roots, and will no doubt be a fan favorite for a long time to come.

We’ve also got a few features from another dojo elite in Lindsay Lowend, gracing our ears with a jammin little remix of the iconic ‘Irreplaceable’. The song has been cleverly disguised on his Soundcloud to try and avert the iron fist of the copyright crawler, but we’re here to make sure you don’t miss hearing this infectious beat in all its glory. If you’re finding that still hasn’t satisfied your cravings, we’ve also got another serving of sweetness from him in ‘Memory Foam’. As its name promises, this one will tug at those nostalgic heartstrings with its simplistic beauty, evoking all the memories you hold so dear.

In case you somehow missed it, there has been a wave of ‘Say My Name’ remixes since the release of Odesza’s album, and this makes plenty of great listening material for the Dojo. We can’t get enough of them, so we’ve included some of our top picks from the bunch so far, but they’re likely to keep popping up for a while to come.

It’s time to get the chill back into your life. We hope you haven’t missed it too badly. Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #101

We’re fresh into the triple figures now, and it’s interesting to hear how the sounds we feature have developed since the very beginning. Case in point, Kasbo kicks off edition 101 with some future bass goodness, demonstrating the evolution of the kind of music that push this chill playlist into the expansive reaches of electronic music. ‘Kaleidoscope’ is a more than appropriate title for this magnificent aural experience, with the cosmic effects seeming to manifest themselves into visions of color inside the listener’s mind. From reflections of light to sensations of pure serenity, Dutch producer Arman Cekin has conjured up some sun-kissed vibes truly befitting the name ‘Smooth Waves’. The feel-good acapella sampling coupled with the beach-side atmosphere combine for the perfect backdrop to your next majestic summer holiday. Repeat this song enough times and you’ll already be halfway on a plane to get there. With a new Flight Facilities track hitting the site this week, there was no doubting it would appear in the features for this week’s Dojo as well. The ethereal new original from the Australian act may just be the chillest we’ve heard from them so far, scoring points in our book for just about every single element they’ve included in this blissful 7-minute dreamscape.

Another vocal delight comes courtesy of this gorgeous cover of ‘Sky Full of Stars’ from Michael Schulte, given additional tropical treatment from Germany’s Shoby. The electronic pop style of the original is replicated to perfection, with flute and bright acoustics breathing a softer voice to the uplifting melody of this 2014 anthem. Much like many of his Norwegian countrymen, Matoma is one of the best in the business when it comes to similar kinds of tropical transformations, and the past few days have seen two new remixes from the talented workhorse. Saturated in his signature string-filled melodies, he’s worked another spell over these two to ensure your bank of summer tunes continues to grow despite the season coming to a close. Now we’ve posted our fair share of takes on the sexy Ciara hit, but when you hear a version as good as this, how could we possibly resist another? Trust a Frenchman to take things to the next level of smooth, and ALVY has done that and so much more with this sultry number. Silky chords and deep vocal sampling are the ingredients which have our ears infatuated with this one, ensuring that the memorable lyrics continue to be spun for a long time to come.

The sounds may change over time, but the chill vibes of the Dojo will always be undying. Peace out.

[Filthy] Carmada – Maybe

Carmada
Maybe

What’s more exciting than a massive new track from a talented artist right in the hotbed of the blistering Australian music scene? A massive new track from two of these artists, combining to form a united force ready to dominate the festival season both at home and abroad. The lads in question, LDRU and Yahtzel, have been making waves all year and have tag-teamed many a crowd over recent tours in the local scene. Now, they’ve cemented their mateship with a new identity in Carmada, and have consecrated the union in the filthiest way possible. From its soulful future sounds to getting down and dirty with hard grinding basslines, ‘Maybe’ is a demonstration of just what these two are capable of with their skills pooled into one entity. Their debut EP is on the way in the coming months, but if this is any indication of what’s ahead, we foresee big things for this promising duo.

[Deep House] Florence + The Machine – You’ve Got The Love (Dennis Kruissen Remix)

Florence + The Machine
You've Got The Love (Dennis Kruissen Remix)

The iconic voice of Florence Welch has been a staple of club mixes and DJ sets ever since the release of ‘You’ve Got The Love’ back in 09. Some may think it worn after its fair share of handling over time, but five years later and it’s clear that the electronic scene still has more to offer this timeless anthem. Enter Dutchman Dennis Kruissen, wielding a slick blend of deep garage beats to breathe new life and dance-ability into the heavily rinsed original. Forget the long-winded buildups and generic base-filled drops, every part of this track has been crafted with the vocals at center stage, leading the listener into each new surprise that the producer has left in store. That sweet sax breakdown is our favorite shining moment and caps off the unique interpretation that this song truly deserves.

[Chill] Emily Wells x Mapps – Juicy (AA ‘Elation’ Bootleg)

’Emily Wells x Mapps – Juicy (AA Elation Bootleg).mp3′

It’s been a little while since our last dose of bootleg action from DJ AA, but he’s broken the drought with one of his best efforts yet. Seamlessness is the best indicator of a top notch vocal mix, and he definitely has us believing that this indie-style cover of Biggie from Emily Wells was always made for this glorious instrumental from Mapps. It’s a perfect match to our ears, and another downtempo success to add to his library of chill goodness. Soundcloud may not appreciate his craft in the same way that we do, but we’ve got the exclusive free download to make sure you can have this ready whenever you’re in the mood for some serious lounging.
