[Stream] Flume’s Boiler Room Mix

Young Australian electronic artist Flume — who we had the pleasure of interviewing not too long ago — stopped by the famed Boiler Room a few weeks ago to drop a hot 45-minute mix. Today, the BR crew was kind enough to post the entire set on Soundcloud and we’re here to give you the heads up. There is no official tracklist, but tune in and see what you can spot. The opener’s a nice take on his hit single “Sleepless”…

[Electronic] Bondax – Gold (Star Slinger Refix)

Never thought I’d be saying this, but it’s been awhile since we’ve heard from producer maestro Star Slinger. The last thing we featured here on TMN was his Paris Social x DJ Mag Mix back in December — it doesn’t feel that long ago, but in Slinger time, considering he releases mixtapes and remixes like it ain’t no thing, a few months feels like years. This week, however, he’s back with a “refix” of “Gold” by fellow UK electronic music aficionados, Bondax. Injected with more heat and energy, it’s definitely one for the clubs. Check it out below.

[Indie Pop] Young Dreams – First Days Of Something

It’s only the beginning of February, but after listening to “First Days Of Something”, it’ll feel as though we’re on the brink of Spring. The Norwegian outfit Young Dreams pack their latest single with sunny indie pop, peppered with playful, bouncy guitar lines and the warmest Beach Boys-esque harmonies. Mondays can be a real bummer, so brighten up your day with this track. Check it out below.

Young Dreams’ debut LP, Between Places, drops March 1 (AUS)/March 4 (UK,EU)/March 5 (US) via Modular Recordings.

[Trap] Keys N Krates – Dreamyness

Last week, Toronto’s Keys N Krates dropped an awesomely aggressive EP called Lucid Dreams. It’s an interesting title because, while there are certainly overpowering waves of euphoric dream-like synth work, it’s got an equally heavy dose of straight up dirty bounce. Not that I’m complaining – the filthy highs feel that much more potent when offset by the clean cut and shimmery moments; it’s both that contrast and combination that’s praise-worthy. A perfect example of this would be this nearly 5-minute track titled “Dreamyness,” where you’ll get the best of both worlds. Shivers, swagger, and everything in between. Check it out below and take advantage of the free EP download.

[Indie] Vondelpark – California Analog Dream

While R&S Records has been known to boast a range of electronically minded artists (Airhead, James Blake, Aphex Twin), they’ve got the ear for sparse, straightforward indie rock. Case in point: London three-piece Vondelpark. Their new song, “California Analog Dream” reads like a coaxing, late-night drive along an empty and dark highway. It’s not loud or boisterous, but it hardly needs to be; its hushed quality is its best quality. Add in the velvety vocals that wrap you up like a cozy security blanket and you’ve got a track that’ll keep your attention night or day.

Vondelpark’s new album, Seabed, comes out April 1st.

[NEW] Iron and Wine – Lovers’ Revolution

Sam Beam, aka Iron and Wine, has been known for his delicate folk rock and heart-wrenching tales — my personal LP favorites being 2002’s The Creek Drank The Cradle and and 2004’s Our Endless Numbered Days — nearly leading and inspiring that niche corner of music for good chunks of time. But on his newest song, “Lovers’ Revolution,” he shifts away from that sound, instead dabbling in brass-heavy arrangements perfect for a free-form night at the local jazz club. It’s an interesting change, and one that longtime fans might have to get used to, but it shows that Beam hasn’t lost one drop of that creative blood that propelled his career in the first place. Listen in below.

Iron and Wine’s fifth album, Ghost on Ghost, comes out April 16th on Nonesuch Records.

[Electronica] MMOTHS – All These Things feat. Holly Miranda

Listening to “All These Things” by Irish producer MMOTHS and Brooklyn songwriter Holly Miranda feels like watching a blanket of ominous clouds creep across a bright blue sky. It’s moody and ambient, charged with tingling, throbbing little electronic effects — such as an unlikely poignant screeching sound that gives goosebumps — and layered atop with Miranda’s smokey, sensual croon. If dark and tantalizing is your thing (how could it not be?), then you can’t miss out on this one.

MMOTHS’ will release his new Diaries EP on March 4th.
