Lana Del Rey – Summertime Sadness (Monsieur Adi Remix)
No longer a stranger to the pages of the Music Ninja, diligent producer Monsieur Adi gets his hands on Lana Del Rey‘s somber, dramatic track “Summertime Sadness”. The remix takes most of the frown out of the original, and instead injects it with dance floor speed, funky lines and a newfound sizzling sexiness. Listen in below.
Be sure to check out Monsieur Adi’s other featured remixes “Pompeii” and “Born To Die”.
[HOT] Disclosure – White Noise feat. AlunaGeorge
This is one of those collaborations that needs no real persuasion: electronic duo Disclosure team up with Music Ninja favorites as of late, fellow UK electro pop pair AlunaGeorge. Tingly, groovy, it’s worth repeated plays today. Check it out below.
[TMN Song Premiere] The Last Royals – Friday Night (Tribe of Zebras Remix)
It’s rare for a track to sound spot-on when peered at through the lens of different genres, so when we got wind of this brand-spanking new rework we just knew we had to give it not only kudos, but a premiere slot on The Music Ninja. The song in question is “Friday Night” by Brooklyn indie pop outfit The Last Royals. Made up of Eric James and Mason Ingram, the duo pull out all the stops on this ringing, infectious single — so much so that one would think it could only stand alone as an indie tune. But here, LA’s Tribe of Zebras prove us wrong. The producer/DJ team remix the bouncy “Friday Night” into a filthy, growling trap anthem. The original version’s shine gets replaced with some undeniably excellent grime. Check it out below.
The Last Royals’ debut album, Twistification, is out now via Ooh La La Records.
Charli XCX – You (Ha Ha Ha) (BURNS’ Violet Cloud Remix)
Charli XCX‘s track “You (Ha Ha Ha)” — which we covered not too long ago — has received the remix treatment. It’s still prepped and ready for the dance floor, but comes equipped with a slightly more ambient weightlessness. The rework is part of a You (Ha Ha Ha) [Remixes] EP, featuring the likes of MS MR and Goldroom, due out next month.
[NEW] Tegan and Sara – Now I’m All Messed Up
We’ve heard quite a few songs off Tegan & Sara‘s forthcoming album, Heartthrob, but it doesn’t make us any less excited for its official release. Here’s another new one called “Now I’m All Messed Up”. The heartbreaker’s got somber piano tingling, silky harmonies and something very late ’80s-pop about it, and it is yet another reason to believe that this LP is going to be a huge hit in 2013. Enjoy it below and make sure to pick up Heartthrob when it drops January 29th.
[Indie] Ivan & Alyosha – Running For Cover
Seattle’s Ivan & Alyosha have got something quite charming going on. Take just one peek at their single “Running For Cover” — full of such lovely, sweet folksy-pop — and they’ll immediately have you wrapped around their pretty little fingers. But being captives of their music is hardly a thing to complain about. Check out the track below and be sure to watch out for their debut album, All The Times We Had, which drops February 26th via Missing Piece/Dualtone. We hear it will be streaming on NPR early next month…
