Originally from Japan, but now based out of New York, BenZel are a young duo with a penchant for groovy, syrupy, R&B-leaning production. You’ve heard their work on Jessie Ware‘s cover of “If You Love Me” (originally by 90’s group Brownstone), but now we get a taste of an original in “Fallin’ Love”. It’s dubbed as a “demo” on their Soundcloud (below), but you wouldn’t know it. They recently released the official video for the stylish tune; it’s a tad risque, but hey, it’s Monday. Best to start the week with some spice. Check it out.
Based out of York, producer Handbook delivers the stellar “Sunrising,” an oh-so-funky and soulful bit to end 2012. Mix some smooth electronics & Motown vibes and you’ve got the perfect way to end the week on a high, high note. Brisbane-based producer, Charles Murdoch, takes on fellow Aussie Flume on this remix of “Sleepless”. Unlike the original, which was playful and sparkly, this rendition savors moments, simmers slowly below the surface, and gives off more of a sensual tone. After having a successful 2012 with tracks like “Your Drums, Your Love,” London’s AlunaGeorge seem poised to take over the next 12 months. And we aren’t the only ones who think that. Recently, the BBC’s Sound of 2013 Poll placed the duo at a much-esteemed #2 spot. To celebrate the accomplishment, the group visited BBC Radio 1 and premiered a new song called “Diver”.
