As you might already know, M83 was tapped to create the soundtrack for the new Tom Cruise sci-fi flick, Oblivion. He’s previously released its title track (above), but now the entire 17-song collection is available online courtesy of Soundcloud. The OST officially drops on April 9th via Back Lot Music, while the actual film hits theaters on April 19th.
James Blake continues to show us his versatility, this time with “Everyday I Ran”, a bonus track off his forthcoming sophomore album, Overgrown (April 9th, Atlas/Republic). Buzzy, yet still downtempo and ambient, you might assume it’s just another typical low-key Blake charmer, until of course you notice the random, but well-used samples of Big Boi‘s “Royal Flush”. You should all get hip to the name Valentina. The Italian-English artist — who previously collab’d with Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard — will soon put out her own Wolves EP (out April 18th via Greco-Roman) and, judging by this track “Ladders”, it’s going to be full of weightless, elegant electro pop. The latest cut, with its slowly-swaying, sweet chorus and breathy, curling vocals, is an instant charmer. Listen to it below, along with her previously released single “Wolves”.
By now you know how enraptured we are by London’s folk rock trio Daughter, but did you know we also have a soft spot for New York electronic duo The Chainsmokers? We’ve featured a number of their remixes in the past, but this one, “Medicine”, is especially breathtaking as it features both artists. Listen to it above, and below, the remixing pair share a few words about the rework:
“We heard this song on a depressing cold winter day in NYC (it can get pretty bad) but as soon as we heard the haunting voice of Elena from Daughter and the bands equally incredible wallowing piano chords, we didn’t necessarily feel happier, but we fell in love with the song and knew we had to try give our Chainsmokers touch to it without ruining the already beautiful song.”
