Jessie Ware – Wildest Moments (Remix) (ft A$AP Rocky)

Jessie Ware
Wildest Moments (Remix) (ft A$AP Rocky)

For all the US-based Jessie Ware fans, let us rejoice! The UK electro-soul songstress will finally release her excellent debut, Devotion, for us on April 16th (it dropped months ago almost everywhere else). We’ve had to anxiously wait like impatient children for this, but at least the stateside version includes two new tracks. We’ve heard one of them, the uptempo house track “Imagine It Was Us”, and here’s the second: a remix of “Wildest Moments” featuring none other than A$AP Rocky. The rework features some rather low key verses from the emcee, which is fine with us, seeing as the original was near-perfect on its own. Listen in via the video or mp3 stream.

[Amazing] Cloud Boat – Youthern

Cloud Boat
Youthern

“Youthern”, by London two-piece Cloud Boat, will literally break your heart. The track is built atop a persistent hum that seeps in and shakes up the very fibers of your senses, and, though for the most part it uses a simple, minimalist approach — ghostly electronic tinges peppered throughout — it carries the weight of a very heavy heart. Similar to James Blake‘s somber, grief-stricken material, “Youthern” is the kind of song whose hurt you really can’t get enough of. The chorus alone (“Come down with us, come down with us…) is a killer.

“Youthern” is off the duo’s forthcoming album, Book of Hours, due out May 27th via R&S/Apollo.

Katy Perry – Wide Awake (Groundislava Remix)

Wide Awake
My bb Katy Perry (GROUNDISLAVA COOL MIX)

Yes, it was kind of strange searching Google Images for a Katy Perry picture. Yes, this is a Katy Perry song. But I promise you that you haven’t heard “Wide Awake” done like this. Los Angeles producer Groundislava makes this hit more than just tolerable, he makes it damn right repeat-worthy. The remix features hard-hitting, chopped up and wub-wub heavy aggression, which is offset nicely by swirling synth work and Perry’s saccharine vocals that are dropped in every once in awhile. It certainly won’t take over the original anytime soon (though I might prefer this version), but it’s always great seeing another artist re-invent a piece of work, especially one that’s so familiar.

[Electro Pop] Fallulah – Dried Out Cities

Rising artist Fallulah has garnered a following back in her motherland, Denmark, but quickly made a splash down in Austin during SXSW earlier this month and with good reason. Her punchy track, “Out Of It”, was so infectious, the kind of tune that stays with you long after the work day (or work week) wrapped up. She continues her worldwide takeover with the release of another new tune called “Dried Out Cities”. Though it’s not as in-your-face as its predecessor, there’s something very hypnotic and exciting about her breathy vocals playing against the thump, thump, thump of the beat and the clap, clap, clap of the hands off in the background. She’s yet another female artist poised to storm the electro-pop stage any minute now, so stay tuned for more.

[NEW] Daughter – Human

A new track has surfaced from London folk-rock trio and TMN faves Daughter.”Human”, off the band’s forthcoming debut album, If You Leave, is tingly and enchanting, drawing you in with every rugged acoustic guitar strum and ghostly chorus. Much like their past material, it leaves you a little breathless. Listen to it below and make sure to pick up their new record on April 30th via Glassnote Records.

[Album Stream] Cold War Kids – Dear Miss Lonely Hearts

Cold War Kids
Miracle Mile

On April 2nd, Cold War Kids will issue their fourth full-length, Dear Miss Lonely Hearts. Earlier, we had a preview of the LP thanks to the hearty, rockin’ track “Miracle Mile” (above), which pleasantly reminded us of their earlier releases. But we’ll be honest — we’ve gotten kind of impatient the last few weeks, wondering if the rest of the record would sound similar to that aforementioned song. So, we were beyond excited to hear that entire thing is currently streaming online! Check it out and let us know what you think.
