[Dubstep/Electro] Knife Party – Tourniquet (original mix)

I saw a comment on a Knife Party YouTube clip that said “Knife Party isn’t Dubstep, Electro, prog house… it’s seizure music!” and given their last few releases I’d be one to incline. The Pendulum duo have already dropped a lot of their repertoire in live sets and with so much hype around them it was only a matter of time before ‘HQ Rips’ floated around the internet. This is no such rip, but instead a nice juicy 320kbps for you.. whooop! Tourniquet will feature on their upcoming EP “100% No Modern Talking” along with  ‘Internet Friends‘, ‘Fire Hive‘, and ‘Back To The Z-List‘ so be sure to pick up a copy once it drops on Beatport (date unconfirmed yet)

[Electro House] Tiesto – Maximal Crazy (Bassjackers Remix) + Bonus Rihanna Remix

Whenever Tiesto releases an EP into the wild, there’s always at least one remix that really blows me away, and this time it’s from Marlon Flohr and Ralph van Hilst, aka Bassjackers. The remix was just dropped by David Guetta at the DJMag Awards Party, proving it’s already a big crowd pleaser… even a Guetta crowd! The duo are not immune to making club bangers though, with their last track Mush Mush, dropping just as hard.

Bonus – || this drop is immense ||  Rihanna may sound like her tonsils have just been slammed through a blender and shoved back in her throat, but i think it’s safe to say it’s worth waiting for this drop as it may knock you off your chair.

[Hip Hop/Dubstep] La Da Boomman Feat. Tity Boi and Yo Gotti – We Up In Here (Mayhem Remix)

This song is even chunkier then it’s title which just about manages to squeeze everyone in! Throwing down a freekin’ tight bass line, Atlanta born Mayhem has done a brilliant remix on this track. Hailing from Atlanta, the 28 year old producer usually has more of a drum ‘n’ bass sound so he’s ventured out a bit on this mix. With this being Mayhems first appearence on The Music Ninja, you should definitely go check out more of his work on his Facebook and Soundcloud.

[Fresh Indie] Dog is Dead – Hands Down

So last night I paid a visit to Electric Ballroom in Camden and fell in love with the support act of the night – Dog Is Dead. The 5 peice are signed to Atlantic and their choral epic ‘Hands down‘ single is set for release this Monday 31st. Having just done a UK tour leg with Bombay Bicycle Club, the boys have been on the road pretty much non stop, packing out plenty of festival tents along the way. Their positive and energetic live performance really suits their style and I’d place a hefty bet that these guys will start seeing a lot more of the UK Indie limelight.

[New] Skrillex Ft. The Doors – Breakin’ a Sweat

skrillex-and-the-doors-breakin-a-sweat

According to Ray Manzarek from The Doors, ‘Breakin a Sweat’ sounds “fucking great” – a modest remark but one that I definitely agree with! From all of all the collaberations I’ve seen Skrillex do, this one has surprised me the most so far. It came about through a new documentary film, RE:GENERATION, that put together five DJs/producers to work with artists from five separate genres. Apparently, Manzarek and the other members of The Doors (John Densmore and Robby Krieger) had an immediate connection with Skrillex which meant making this record was pretty kick ass for all involved.

Upon first listen I did think it sounded like Skrillex tamed down – no raging monster like ‘Reptile‘, but after a second listen, I really began to hear the subtleties of The Doors and loved it. The question has to be asked then – is this what dubstep would have sounded like in the 60’s?

[FRESH] ill.Gates, Mat the Alien & Dash – OTORO

After seeing in the title that this featured Dash (from Roots) I was confident it would be pretty tight… and it is. Slamming in burst of chunky bass ontop of a classic hip hop vibe, this track hits all the right notes.

Yeah you liked that right?!! So the 3 guys hail from Boston and are pretty new to the EDM scene having only formed back in the winter of 2010. After releasing a few tracks, Play Me Records have wasted no time in snapping these fella’s up and releasing the hard hitting ‘Kriss Kross – Jump‘ moombahcore remix for free on their Soundcloud page.

So what’s the future hold for BTMA? They’ve got an EP “Are You Up For Getting Down” coming out on Play Me on January 16 2012, which for me seems pretty far away, so I’m hoping they’ve got plenty of goodies to keep us occupied between now and then.
