[Dubstep] Birthdayy Partyy – The Summit

Birthdayy Partyy are usually known for their electro and bass house inspired records, but today they went all out dub. Other than a couple of previous dubstep records, we haven’t had much in this style from the Chicago twins and as of now we’re aching for more of it.

“The Summit” is an inspiring bass original that takes a melodic approach to the genre in a similar vein as Adventure Club and Fox Stevenson. By infusing more musical elements and not simply focusing on aggressive sound design, Birthdayy Partyy took “The Summit” as high as it could go. As always, this BP release has dropped as a free download for anyone who is holding out on streaming.

[Pop] GALXARA – KILLA KILLA

GALXARA
KILLA KILLA

Although her name and style evoke the heavens, Galxara hails from far humbler roots. The artist was raised in Florida with her Nicaraguan mother and American father, both of whom were constantly blending the styles and genres of music of both backgrounds. Growing up in such an environment, Galxara took an interest in music early on and it is clear in her vocal talent.

Now based in Los Angeles, the up and coming act has been writing and recording songs for her debut album, due out 2020 via Atlantic Records. “Killa Killa” is just a hint of what’s to come from Galxara. The demo was produced by Jake Sinclair (Panic! At The Disco, Pink, etc) and she is not messing around. When asked about the debut drop, Galxara said “Although Galxara is fantastical, she’s still me,” the singer says, “She’s not a character. Instead, she’s the person I choose to be.”

Expect much more of this excellence on the EP this Friday, but for now, enjoy “WEIRD000” on us.

[Electro Pop] DayFox – Lioness

DayFox
Lioness

The German creative DayFox has blessed us with some good ol’ happy music. The single “Lioness” dropped as a free download and has been marketed alongside DayFox’s catalog as royalty free music for other creatives like vloggers, streamers etc. Which is perfect, because “Lioness” has just the right sound for sync opportunities.

“Lioness” is a poppy electronic anthem that blends breakbeat percussion, heavenly vocal chops and calming keys together in a magnificently beautiful way. DayFox really honed in on making this sound iconic and accessible as possible. It’s not necessarily a groundbreaking tune in any regard, but it certainly is one of the strongest electro pop tracks we’ve heard this year. And now we’re looking forward to even more from Dayfox.

777 (feat. Ferras)

It’s not often you see producers from across the world coming together to form a duo, but that’s just how KDL came to be. The New Jersey meets Norway duo have hit our radar with their latest single “777” featuring Ferras.

“777” is an emotionally driven pop gem pairing together a bustling instrumental with a grooving vocal performance. It’s reminiscent of some works from The Weeknd, but it still retains an independence that makes the single memorable in its own right. KDL certainly have talent when it comes to writing pop records with influence from other genres and even time periods, so don’t be too surprised if you catch them working with some top tier mainstream talents in the future.
