Feed Me – Escape From Electric Mountain [Album Stream]

Feed Me and his little green goblin avatar have become ubiquitous among dance music fans over the past few years thanks to his multi-genre, razor-sharp production style and keen sense of branding. Much like his mentor and label boss Deadmau5, Feed Me has put his music at the forefront of his image closely followed by a cute yet sinister cartoon identity. As the little green monster shows up on bills and social network profiles in place of the british human behind the music, Feed Me’s image builds from simply another great producer into the iconic status sought after by global brands and celebrities alike. As fascinating as this Daft Punk originated concept of anonymity is, it must be supported by great music if it is to succeed. Thankfully Feed Me also has this key aspect under his belt.

Feed Me’s third release is out now on Mau5trap Recordings and if you don’t have it yet you are missing out! In only 6 tracks he skillfully morphs his signature groaning, squeeling production style into nearly every club-slaying genre out there today while channeling a diverse array of sounds likely inspired by Knife Party, Skrillex and Deadmau5. On “Trapdoor” featuring pop punk singer Hadouken we get some heavy drumstep action, on “Relocation” he channels dreamy progressive sounds, “One Click Headshot” features an annoying Counterstrike sample but overcomes with the slamming moombacore beats that follow, “Embers ft. Lindsay” features a nice vocal electro style and “Trichitillomania” brings it home with slamming electro house flavors. All things considered this is a diverse and well rounded effort that is sure help elevate Feed Me’s status even faster to the upper echelon of producers in the world today.

[Dubstep] Sebastian Tellier – Divine (Zeds Dead Remix)

Everything Toronto-based producers Zeds Dead touch seems to turn to gold. Ever since they catapulted themselves onto the EDM scene with their brilliant remix of The Moody Blues a few years back, these two Canadians have put their stamp on everything from Radiohead to The Rolling Stones, never failing to deliver even when faced with such epic source material. In their latest quick-hitter remix, Zeds Dead take on “Divine” by parisian electro soul rocker Sebastian Tellier. They keep true to their unique style with near-silent breakdowns just before knarly bass drops and bring in a new swinging, quirky drum beat and ultra fast arpeggios on this remix for some extra French swagger. We’re hoping to hear a lot more in the future from two of Toronto’s best producers and with tracks like this one coming down the pipeline we likely won’t be disappointed.

[Fresh] AwolNation – Sail (WhiteNoise Remix)

Although he was too late to submit to the official Redbull remix competition, Berlin based dubstep producer WhiteNoise is back with an epic remix of AwolNation’s acclaimed track “Sail”. This sweeping track gained a great deal of popularity when the professional base jumper Jeb Corliss used it in one of his videos and it has been on the rise ever since. “Sail” takes the listener on a journey into space with its moon landing samples, violin chord progressions and screamo vocal swells. WhiteNoise did a great job of maintaining and building on the raw emotional energy of the original track while taking it into new spaced out dimensions. When the grimy bass line and swinging drum rhythms finally drop the listener is swept up, sailing away into dubstep heaven if only for a moment.

[Dubstep] Civil Twilight – Letters From The Sky (LoBounce Remix)

Many would agree that Cape Town, South Africa is one of the most beautiful and dynamic places on the globe. Fitting that the music written by Civil Twilight would take on their city’s diverse and powerful nature. Lead singer Steven McKellar’s vocals come from an eery place not commonly found in alternative music and his band’s beautiful piano and string melodies provide the perfect bed for his vocals to dwell within. Chicago’s LoBounce picked up on the richly emotional vibe in Civil Twilight’s debut single “Letters From The Sky” and ornamented it with just the right balance of stripped down piano and heavy bass. LoBounce also did a nice job of stuttering out the vocals and infusing epic string chords of his own along with the grinding synth lines. All around this track will take you to a place that soars as high as Cape Town’s Table Mountain and beyond.

[Genre Crusher] XKore – Showdown (Atrasolis Remix)

The modern electronic music landscape is flourishing with producers who crash through genre categories like a bull in a china shop. The lines between dubstep, electro, progressive and house have been blurred to oblivion, creating a whirlwind of hardcore sounds that sweep through venues and clubs all over the world leaving a path of destruction in their wake. Take the Atrasolis remix of “Showdown” from UK producer XKore for example. With a progressive intro, broken beat electro drop and dubstep bridge this track surveys the hardcore landscape with precision. So turn it up loud and forget all about the genres you used to know as you melt your face in the brave new era of 2012.
