Austin’s Psymbionic does dubstep a bit differently from most other producers out there. Whether he’s remixing 90’s alternative cuts or old school hip hop he always comes correct with fuzzy, wobbling bass lines and excellent vocal programming while never loosing sight of his unique, quirky style. This week he released his debut EP “Ride With Me” via MalLabel Music and these tracks are not to be missed! With remixes from Truth, Omega and Starkey and a very special Psymbionic remix of The Gorillaz there is plenty of bass for you to blast. Give a listen to the album preview below and if you’re diggin’ it then pick it up on Beatport here. We also have a free download of his Gorillaz remix for your bass addiction thanks to Austin’s weirdest dubstep character.

As we anxiously await London’s Sub Focus to start his US tour we have only had his latest DnB single “Out The Blue” to tide us over. With his “eye of the camera” style stage setup and fat bass productions it is only a matter of time until this talented producer appears on a stage near you. It seems like Dutchman Laidback Luke has his hands on every single out there and he remixes most of them in his quirky yet big stage ready production style. His remix of “Out The Blue” moves the DnB track into “Laidback” territory with dutch house progressions and some Daft Punk-esque robot voices that nicely compliment Alice Gold’s beautiful vocals. Tracks like this showcase the joy of remix culture and we are happy to show support!

Steve Aoki took his hype man tactics up about 12 notches this year at Ultra Music Festival by crowd boating and throwing a cake in a lucky girls face at the drop of his latest track “Emergency”. People that hate on him for not focusing on DJing all the time miss the point – this man is a showman and a producer to be reckoned with. His latest single “Cudi The Kid” is nothing short of epic with vocals from Kid Cudi himself and drums from LA punk rocker Travis Barker. If that weren’t enough there are already a slew of remixes coming down the pipeline like this machine-step one from Lucky Date. All hail the electro kingpin Aoki!
Parisian Martin Solveig has seen a rapid rise to success ever since the release of his multi-platinum selling hit “Hello”. Once the world heard his innate gift for creating driving disco pop melodies and discovering soaring vocal lines the sky became the limit. Most recently Solveig was asked to produce the legendary Madonna’s new album including her number one single “Give Me All Your Lovin”. His latest EP is a collection of original tracks and remixes from the likes of A-Trak, Madeon and TheFatRat. For your nu disco electro listening pleasure we present TheFatRat’s slamming remix. Be sure to pick up “The Night Out EP” on iTunes and don’t miss Solveig on tour at Coachella, Tao and several other US stops.
In the world of Trance music Paul van Dyk is a legend. In a career spanning over two decades he has sold more than three million albums, has been voted the world’s #1 DJ and has remixed everyone from Madonna to Depeche Mode. One of the many reasons why he has excelled for so long is his ability to evolve and adapt as a producer. One his latest full length album “Evolution” PVD explores this idea by producing a range of different sounds and vibes within the Trance umbrella. Each track on the 15 song album features a different vocalist, emphasizing each of their unique vocal qualities.
While most songs on the album including “Symmetries ft. Austin Leeds”, “I Don’t Deserve You ft. Plumb”, “If You Want My Love ft. Caligola” and “The Ocean ft. Arty” delve into the deep vocal trance PVD is best known for, he does utilize heavier progressive bass lines than we’ve heard from him before on a few of them. “Eternity ft. Adam Young” moves things into the emo realm with a trance twist, “Verano” explores the dutch house phenomenon, “The Sun After Heartbreak ft. Sue McLaren” has a downtempo breakbeat feel to it and “Dae Yor ft. Ummet Ozcan” pushes up the tempo to psy-trance speeds. “All The Way ft. Tyler Michaud”, “We Come Together ft. Sue McLaren” and “Heart Stops Beating ft. Sarah Howells” have a slightly electro house vibe to them and “Everywhere ft. Fieldwork” adds a little wompy bass into the mix. For me the only stand out track on the album that has a truly “evolved” feel to it is “Rock This”, a Deadmau5 style heavy hitter with epic PVD breakdowns.
Overall it is commendable that PVD is exploring the idea of evolution, but it seems that he is mostly content in developing the firmly established trance production style rather than branching out into some of the heavier styles that are popular today. Still, we give him credit for staying true to his nature while exploring some cool new sounds. You can hear the album in the player below and pre order “Evolution” directly from PVD’s website here. Also be sure to watch out for him at a city near you when he embarks on his world tour this summer. Long live trance music!
Nero‘s smash hit “Must Be The Feeling” has become one of the most popular dance songs of 2012 due to its chopped up disco funk meets heavy bass stylings. LA’s Kill The Noise is throwing his hat in the pot with a siren laden remix for your eardrums. Kill The Noise always comes correct with quality tunes and sick artwork, making him one of our favorite artists in the bass movement so far.

Its been a while since I’ve heard an anthem as beautiful as the latest collaboration between UK rock band Keane and Swedish house giant Alesso. With subtle melodies, magical vocals and driving drums this is a great song for the end of night when its time for lighters in the air. The styles of these two bands perfectly compliment each other and synergize for a really enjoyable tune. Enjoy the preview below and be sure to look out for this track on Beatport soon.
