Swarms are a UK-based producer duo who do things a bit differently. Rather than focusing on the heaviest, nastiest sounds possible, these guys create rich soundscapes that transport the listener into their dreamlike world. This time around they have taken the ordinarily hyped up track “Go” from Diplo and turned down the intensity about 11 notches. If you are planning on taking a nap this afternoon or if you need to take a stress break then throw this track on, kick your feet up and relax – Swarms have got you covered.

[Drum & Bass] Sub Focus – Out Of The Blue
London drum and bass producer Sub Focus has a real knack for mixing quality vocals perfectly with thick bass lines and soaring melodies. His tracks are reminiscent of the glory days of rave culture in the early 90’s when the electronic movement was still blissfully underground. On his new single “Out Of The Blue” he features yet another gifted vocalist Alice Gold and expertly mixes her soaring voice with some strait ahead drum and bass rhythms. Though this track is definitely more of a throwback than a progressive new sound, it will surely be an enjoyable listen for anyone who has been with the EDM scene since the beginning.

[Nu Disco] Madeon – Icarus
17 year old French pop house producer Madeon always brings the funk. It is nothing short of amazing to find sounds so reminiscent of Justice, Daft Punk and Treasure Fingers from someone so young. This old soul must have been a 70’s funk band in his past life. His new single “Icarus” begins with one of the most epic, sweeping intros we have heard in a long time and drops into the broken beat funk house that has made Madeon an international superstar. Icarus was the mythical son of Daedalus, locked with his father inside the Labyrinth. They finally escaped using wings devised from wax but Icarus flew too close to the sun and the wax melted, plunging him to his death. Perhaps Madeon fears that he is rising to fame too fast. There are worse things to have to worry about at 17 years old if you ask us. You can catch Madeon on a world tour this spring including two performances at Coachella.

The Roots ft. Monsters of Folk – Dear God 2.0 (Zeds Dead Remix)
DC and Hooks aka Canadian powerhouse Zeds Dead are back with another eery remix to throw in your DJ sets and iPods. This time they take on soulful vocals by Conor Oberst of the brand new supergroup Monsters of Folk. Although the original track featured The Roots, the ZD version omits the raps and goes strait for the ghostly vibe. As usual they bring their grimy, shifting bass rifts and crispy beats to round out the track and give it their stamp of approval. Although it was a bit too short to really sink my teeth into (at only 3 minutes) this is a chilly new tune which is a great listen, especially if its cold and grey outside. Be sure to pick up Zeds Dead’s new album Adrenaline and catch them on tour with Araab Musik (who rips shit up on dual MPCs) when they swing through your town this spring.

[Pop Remixes] Karmin – Broken Hearted (R3hab Remix)
With a prolific amount of material in the blogosphere today, Dutch DJ and producer R3hab is rapidly becoming a household name. Through remixing a huge variety of artists ranging from Lady Gaga to Dada Life, R3hab consistently brings the big room electro sounds that dance floors crave. No wonder he was recently signed to fellow dutchman Afrojack‘s label Wall Recordings. In his latest effort R3hab takes on the Boston-based pop act Karmin and their new single “Broken Hearted”. This track really makes you want to get up and dance with its uplifting vocals, major chord progressions and dirty electro bass lines. If his consistent output is an indicator of the future, we will undoubtedly be hearing a great deal more from R3hab in 2012.

[Banger] Three 6 Mafia – Stay Fly (Candyland Remix)
Today we bring you some down south flows remixed by one of dubstep’s hottest upcoming acts. Thugstep, crunkstep or whatever you want to call it just sounds good to the eardrums sometimes with the natural swagger of both genres mixing together perfectly. Memphis, Tennessee’s Three 6 Mafia are one of the most beloved crunk rap groups of all time with their outrageous personas and bone-crushing lyricism. In a brand new remix that seems effortless yet incredibly heavy, Santa Barbara producers Candyland take the smash single “Stay Fly” and push it into powerful new directions. Candyland’s production chops shine with vocal bends, crushing bass hits and rave sirens that bring to mind the style of Skrillex and Noisia, but with a proper gangsta lean. So throw this track on in your Cadillac, sip some sizzurp and stay fly tonight.
[Dubstep] Benga – I Will Never Change
London producer Benga is unquestionably one of the godfathers of dubstep. When he was only 15 years old he was already releasing singles on the first dubstep label, Big Apple and clubbing in his hometown of Croydon where the first dubstep night called Forward>> began. Along with his childhood friend, Skream, Benga has put dubstep on the map with a string of singles strait from the heart of the UK. At 24 he is a seasoned veteran of the scene with an Afro big enough to prove it. Look out for Benga on his European tour with Youngman this summer and give a listen to his wobbly, glassy, ravey new single “I will Never Change” off his upcoming album “Diary of an Afro Warrior”.
