It’s been a few months now that we have been seeing the name “bitbird” circulating through out our feeds. With all the great music the name was releasing, it came as no surprise when we discovered the person behind the new label was none other than electronic artist, San Holo.

To kick off the creation and amassed success of bitbird, Holo has released the label’s first ever EP, Gouldian Finch, a compilation containing an array of the label’s newly signed music ranging from hip-hop to bass to acoustic. Initially, San Holo teased us with his own first release with his creative company, “Still Looking,” which only set an exciting example of what else we could expect to see from bitbird. In addition to his single, listeners will get a taste of the diverse and talented sounds distributed by the label on the ‘Gouldian Finch’ EP. We are very happy to introduce Tim Suby, the newest addition to our list of artists to watch. He falls in the rare category of artists who have truly mastered the ability to produce a sound that will appeal to a diverse audience. We can justify this through his most recent release “k goodnight,” which features the buttery vocals of Jessie Reyez. In which he combines differing elements that are perfectly proportioned. The piece comprises an invigorating tempo that is led by a playful beat, which is wrapped in a ribbon of melodious sensuality. All in all, the music is simply addicting.

Up and coming Austin Natives, Bronze Whale, have been developing their sound for years. With each release only more captivating than the last, BW’s sound has our undivided attention, along with our firm conviction that they are definitely a name to be keeping an eye out for. Most recently, they’ve reinforced this belief with their fresh take on Crywolf’s emotional piece, “Slow Burn.” Approaching it with a contrasting perspective, the remix manifests just the same passion as the original. Bronze Whale provide a direct spotlight on Crywolf’s reverberating lyrics, while expertly executing a sterling slate of vocal chops as the intensity of his words builds up. After a steady run of listens, we think it’s inevitable that listeners will find themselves lost in this exquisite musical maze designed with layers of resonating harmonies that are laden with rhythmic waves of futuristic synths.

It’s Thursday, and all we can do is watch for the clock to hit the minute that means we can escape from our duties, get ourselves home and sprawl out on the couch. Hey, maybe we’ll even indulge ourselves with a soothing glass of wine or whiskey. But while you’re pouring that glass or getting into that comfortable position on the sofa, why not provide you with a tune that will expedite the process of replenishing the energy in your exhausted bodies.

Once again, SMLE is back with another tune that leaves listeners with ear to ear grins. This time around they remix an oldie but goodie, Chris Brown’s sensual ‘Yo (Excuse Me Miss).’ The duo spins the r&b original into their familiar jazz-infused futuristic sound, providing just the right amount of intensity through funky harmonies and stimulating percussion, without giving too much change to the framework of the classic radio hit. Releasing the remix in the midst of festival season, make sure to catch SMLE perform it live during their debut set at Gridlife, along with other fests such as Moonrise and the mainstage of Dancefestiopia on Sunday.
