Synchronice have prided themselves on their own definition of “melodic” for some time now, and they recently decided to tackle a Seven Lions tune, which is certainly is a tall order. Spoiler alert: They nailed it. Instead of opting for simply remixing the track, they re-established the tone of the song in their own terms, fleshing out the production with their own vocals and even a slight bit of guitar work in the intro.

The influence Seven Lions has on their music is reflected throughout their previous releases, and seeing that inspiration come full circle into a cover of this magnitude is not only a testament to Seven Lions, but also proof of Synchronice’s capability of doing the original tune justice while also transforming it into something fresh and celestial. There is no limit to their remix chops, as shown from their infectious rendition of Oh Wonder’s “Dazzle,” and this cover continues the trend as they prepare their upcoming EP. As we peek around the corner into the weekend’s loving embrace, we’re always on the hunt for those perfect songs to carry us into a grand adventure. Luckily for us, Australian-based indie artist Pepa Knight recently released this glowing folk cover of Tame Impala’s “Eventually.”

Self-labeled as bonfire-n-chill version, “Eventually” is dialed back, leaving behind the crunchy distortion, intense synths, and soaring strings found in the original version. Yet, the calming nature of the lyrics and vocal presentation are carried over into Knight’s version, paying an artful homage to Tame Impala’s work.

With articulate layers of finger picking and playful flute work layered underneath Knight’s enchanting vocals, it’s hard not to picture this playing in your car as you head on a quick weekend road trip, or in the company of friends, hanging around a crackling bonfire, as he so adeptly put it.

Check out this bootleg of “Hotline Bling” by the talented DATHAN. The bay area-based producer takes a stab at Charlie Puth and Kehlani‘s cover of the track, and totally elevated it into a fun and upbeat version. It’s always interesting seeing the evolution and different takes on the Drizzy track, as it goes from the original cha cha remix, to Charlie and Kehlani’s emotional cover, and now to this chill trap hotness. With the use of heavy synths and discrete vocal samples, Dathan’s flip is as good as it gets. It’s the perfect dance track to show your friends if they’re looking for some variation of the popular original.

Dathan is definitely coming out with more stuff in the near future, so stay tuned til his next feature.

It won’t be long before Minneapolitans, St. Paulites, and the rest of Minnesotans find an all too familiar second meaning to the line “I Can’t Feel My Face.” Whether or not this stellar remix from Twin City-based producer/DJ had that in mind when he stepped into the studio will remain unknown. What we do know is this – this remix/cover, which was dialed up by Truancy and vocalist Ian Everson, will certainly heat up the dance floor for the coming months, providing not only Minnesota, but the rest of the country with a vehicle to warm themselves up while cutting some rug.

In a city where bass and big drops reign supreme, this up-and-coming producer is being hailed as somewhat of a hometown hero, serving up those who want to populate the early morning windowless warehouses. One listen through this artful house interpretation should have you feeling the movement he’s currently spearheading, by means of a driving kick, funky bassline, enveloping melodies, and those sultry vocals.

As he’s done in his own scene, Truancy (with the help of Ian Anderson) separates himself from the pack of other producers across the globe who took on this wildly popular song. To top it off, this remix is a prelude to something bigger than himself, which will be coming out next week via the charitable music platform, Cadence & Cause.

Well, this was unexpected. Apparently Ed Sheeran had the day off today, so he decided to use his free time to record an acoustic cover of Tory Lanez‘s hit single, “Say It”. The British recording artist is no stranger to rap covers, and just as he did previously with Fetty Wap‘s “Trap Queen” earlier this year, Sheeran puts his own spin on the R&B jam, giving it a unique charm all its own. As for Tory, this is a great look for the Toronto crooner and should help the up-and-coming emcee expand his growing fan base even more. Just as we emphasized yesterday, this might be your last chance to hop on the Tory Lanez bandwagon before there’s no more room left.
