[Smooth] Follow Me – Somethin’ Bout You (Satin Jackets Remix)

Follow Me
Somethin' Bout You (Satin Jackets Remix)

If you’re familiar with our Chill Dojo then you should know that the thought of combining TMN favorites Follow Me and Satin Jackets on one record may just be the best thing to happen since sliced bread. Satin Jackets, who have garnered acclaim for their dreamy fusion of deep and disco house have given their dazzling spin on Follow Me’s sensual original, “Somethin’ Bout You”. Slowing the BPM of the original to inject their own fanciful melodies and 80’s flair, Satin Jackets breathe life into the Brooklyn duo’s stellar tune. Bastille – Pompeii (Rise & Fool Remix)

Bastille
Pompeii (Rise & Fool Remix)

French House and Nu-Disco purveyors Rise & Fool, who like to be simply listed as “a boy and girl making music”, dropped their latest track to us and quite honestly it had our heads unconsciously shaking like a cheap bobblehead.  Countless remixers have plied their sound unto Bastille’s “Pompeii”, but it took a pair of fellow Europeans to pull the disco out of it, and their execution was spot-on. While not an officially licensed remix, Rise & Fool just wanted the chance to throw the cut into their DJ sets, while maintaining much of the original’s musical integrity and for us, they hit the nail right on the head. After a slow-burning build, we are taken into four-to-the-floor drum kick territory complete with echoing synths and a slight reverb added to the vocal track to finish it out nicely.  As an even greater treat to our DJ contingent out there in cyberspace, they’re giving the 320 away as a free download, so do please take advantage and show a little support to the artistic community. Grab and stream Rise & Fool’s remix of Bastille’s “Pompeii” above.

[Disco-House] The S.O.S. Band – Take Your Time [Do It Right] (Solidisco Remix)

The S.O.S Band
Take Your Time (Do It Right) (Solidisco Remix)

Disco-House duo Solidisco, dug into their crate of obscure records for this one and may have found the perfect Summer remix along the way. With multiple releases on A-Trak’s tastemaking Fool’s Gold label, the pair seem to be the perfect ambassadors to bring one of our favorite dance genres to the masses. Taking The S.O.S. Band’s classic “Take Your Time (Do It Right)” was perhaps a risky move, but the original stays largely untouched with only minor tweaks; the BPM’s taken up to around 128, the drums hollowed out, but much more boisterous and a danceable four-to-the-floor bassline. All of these elements will no doubt culminate into a Summer time charge to the dance floor, and as an even greater bonus, Solidisco has included the track as a free download for aspiring DJ’s to rinse it in their sets or just to groove to in your vehicle of choice (here’s looking at you Vespa contingent). [Funky] Capital Cities – Farrah Fawcett Hair feat. Andre 3000 & Frank Tavares (of NPR)

Capital Cities
Farrah Fawcett Hair ft. André 3000 and narrated by Frank Tavares (of NPR)

Be prepared to hear the most random–and possibly the catchiest–song you’ll hear all year. Featuring the unlikely pairing of Outkast‘s Andre 3000 and NPR’s Frank Tavares, Capital Cities‘ funky new single is a wild ride chock full of pop culture references that includes Frank “narrating” throughout. I put narrating in quotation marks because it seems like they really just got him to say anything and everything they could possibly imagine–basically anything you couldn’t get away with on the radio. “Farrah Fawcett Hair” is a silly tune that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s completely fine, as we’re content with having a fun time right alongside it. To sum things up, “it’s good shit.”

Carousel-Another Day (The Golden Pony Remix)

As the weather begins to take a much sunnier turn (much like our disposition), our souls begin to crave for that Summery, daytime-disco sound fit more for a rooftop party than a sweaty nightclub. It appears East Coast electro-disco revivalists The Golden Pony caught our spirit all the way across the country in Brooklyn, and gave us this playful remix of TMN favorites Carousel and their latest happy-dance single “Another Day”. TGP effectively strips away the playful lead guitar riff from the original while minimally toning down Jackson Philips’ angelic vocal reverberations in favor of letting a lush synthesizer take the lead. Last week The Golden Pony’s remix of Daft Punk and Panda Bear’s Random Access Memories entry “Doing It Right” racked up over 100,000 plays on Soundcloud as well as an appearance on The Hype Machine’s coveted Top-Ten for the week. If The Golden Pony continues to maintain their disco-dance integrity paired with excellent choices in remixing, it’s pretty safe to say we will be seeing more from the duo in the near future. F For You

Yesterday was quite the busy day, chalk full of amazing releases including three tracks from U.K.’s hottest export, and last month’s talk of Coachella, brotherly duo Disclosure. We already premiered Toro Y Moi’s remix of “Me & You”, and today are thrilled to share another original tune, “F For You”. Previously the bouncy cut, featuring vocals from the youngest Lawrence: Howard, was previewed on Zane Lowe’s BBC1 Radio show, but was only heard on the web as a radio rip. Now a week out from the release of highly anticipated debut album Settle they’ve dropped the complete studio version as well. Thus far Disclosure have released a smattering of material from Settle with “Latch” ft. Sam Smith, “White Noise” ft. AlunaGeorge, “When a Fire Starts to Burn”, “You & Me” ft. Eliza Doolittle, “Grab Her!” and now what will likely be the last pre-taste before a June 3 release on PMR, “F For You”. As you can tell, we’re a little bit excited for it. Stream “F For You” above.

Disclosure – You Used To Hold Me [Radio Rip]

disclosure

Disclosure can do no wrong, and this Bootleg of Ralphi Rosario and Xavier Gold‘s track “You Used To Hold Me” is pure gold. Their approach to this re work is pretty much flawless, dropping all sorts of dreamy synth work to accompany the already empowering vocals. A few months ago Disclosure teased us with a video performance of this track, to watch that click here. But now we have a solid rip from Disclosure’s mix for Zane Lowe‘s show on BBC Radio 1. No news on the release date yet, cheers.
