[Electronic] DIVERSA – Of The Mysterious Voice (EP Review)

Among the countless electronic music producers of today, music fans repeatedly encounter artists lending styles to and from one another. From the massive build up and drops of major EDM artists, to the ever growing adaptation of future bass by up and coming artists, setting oneself apart as a musician is arguably more difficult now than ever.

Thanks to a multitude of recent releases by Daktyl`, Skrux, and Obesøn, listeners have grown accustomed to high quality, genre blending music from the successful Hegemon label, pushing an already progressive-thinking music scene further. Last week we were unexpectedly graced with the release of fellow Hegemon label mate Diversa’s latest EP, “Of the Mysterious Voice”.

The five track EP, released via his newly minted affiliation in London-based Inspected (home to talented artists Gemini and Zeds Dead) is a beautiful, thought-provoking collection of tunes loosely termed as drum and bass. Continue reading

[Breakbeat] Noisestorm – Barracuda

Noisestorm
Barracuda

The best kind of storm is Noisestorm. “Barracuda” is the latest manifestation from the musical mind of the Irish beatsmith who partnered again with his Monstercat family for the release. His breakbeat electro style is one that is underdeveloped outside of Noisestorm and a handful of others, although his work stands out among them all. With Summer approaching, rage fever is soon to strike, and this track certainly won’t be inhibiting the onset. “Barracuda” is the beast you expect, plus more. The only unfortunate thing about this is that Noisestorm doesn’t have any upcoming shows, so this is gonna have to be played elsewhere. Get yourself a copy and share it around in his stead!

[Multi-Genre] Lektrique – ΩMEGA EP

Careful now, before Lektrique and company blow your speakers up with the ΩMEGA EP that dropped today on Kannibalen Records. Although he is one of the more underrated electro/bass producers out there, he’s a producer who manages to spice things up regardless of the genre he takes on. His original “ΩMEGA” is a monstrously heavy electro house tune that is just as catchy as it is big. Alongside the original are three remixes of varying styles. LUMBERJVCK goes absolutely bonkers on his hybrid take that is the definition of fire. Our Time dish out a memorable drumstep anthem whose second drop will disintegrate you in an instant. Andy’s iLL comes in the closing slot with his trapped out remix that jumps around between a couple different sounds. The ΩMEGA EP is up for grabs on digital stores, so if you would like a copy, grab one here.
